Carolyn Ann ‘Carol’ Ferreira

Carolyn Ann “Carol” Ferreira of Kalaheo passed away on Nov. 5, 2019, at the age of 75, at Wilcox Medical Center. She was born in Lihue on May 30, 1944.

She spent her career as an administrator in the business department at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by father Billarmino Mande.

She is survived by husband Wallace Ferreira, mother Josephine Mande, sons Kyle Aguiar and Spence (Chenoa) Aguiar, stepchildren Terri (Stace Baker) Morates and Todd (Lisa) Ferreira, brothers Terrance Mande and Robert (Mary) Mande, sisters Marian (Philip) Cadawas and Shirley (Randy) Mande, grandchildren Taylor (Jeb) Anderson, Travis (Sarah) Morates, Princeton “Hoku” Yamaguchi, Chad Ferreira, Spencer “Spenci” Aguiar, Jared Ferreira, Taelyn Nunes, Sarah Ferreira and Kailar Aguiar.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo, with visitation at 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 9:30 a.m.

The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Borthwick Kauai Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

William K. ‘Sonny’ Wai‘ale‘ale III

William K. “Sonny” Wai‘ale‘ale III passed away on Nov. 18, 2019, in Lihue, at the age of 78. He was born on June 27, 1941, in Koloa. He worked for Roberts Hawaii Tours and was self-employed with Wai‘ale‘ale Boat Tours.

He was preceded in death by father William K. Wai‘ale‘ale II, Dorothy V. Medeiros Schorzman and Linda Ann Wai‘ale‘ale.

He is survived by sons Troy (Sharon Snuggs) Wai‘ale‘ale of Lihue, Dane Dabis (Terence) Wai‘ale‘ale of Kekaha, Cory Wai‘ale‘ale of Lawai, daughter Jade (Poki) Wai‘ale‘ale Battad, grandchildren, Tara, Tierny (Chris), Teagan (Makana), Tori (Brandon), Tristin and Tyli, great-grandchildren Tavis, Tariq, Tazin, Tate and Tiye, brother Lani (Mary) Schorzman of Odessa, Washington, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, at Wailua Marina (by Smith’s Tropical Paradise), with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Venancia Escalona Papagayo

Venancia Escalona Papagayo, 84, of Kapaa, passed away peacefully at Garden Island Health Care on Nov. 23, 2019. She was born in Santiago, Ilocos Sur, Phillipines, on April 1, 1935, and retired as a sales associate with Walmart.

She was preceded in death by parents Benito and Maria Escalona, husband Sebastian Papagayo, and siblings Theodorico Escalona and Nena Erata.

She is survived by children Vanessa Papagayo of Kapaa, Patrick Papagayo of Chicago and Grace (Stan Koga) Papagayo of Kapaa, grandchildren Natassja (Beau) Lofton, Tenessa (Robin) Eiland and Brianee Cabacungan, great-grandchildren Kyssja Strickland, Kiarah Strickland, Keanu Strickland and Anela Eiland, brothers Marcos Escalona and Anastacio “Tony” Escalona, and sisters Carmen Escalona, Esparanza “Pansang” Etrata and Pinang Sipin.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, Dec. 21, at St. Catherine Church, with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass to follow at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Kealia.
