Clarence Kalalena‘ahia Gardner

Clarence Kalalena‘ahia Gardener passed away on Dec. 1, 2020, at the age of 76, in Lihu‘e.

He was born on Dec. 26, 1943, in Lihu‘e. He was retired.

He was preceded in death by wife Maverline Mililani Gardner, parents Moses and Mercedes Gardner, Sadie and William Sagre, brothers Delbert Sagre, Alton Gardner and William Sagre, and sister Lynette Kekahuna.

He is survived by sons Wayne (Raynette) Taniguchi of Kalaheo, Kalei (Lanell) Gardner of Lawa‘i, Lono (Christina) Gardner of Lawa‘i, daughter Raynette Momi Gardner of Maile, O‘ahu, grandchildren Britney (Jarett) Fujioka, Kylie Taniguchi, Nicole Gardner, Kawehi Taniguchi, Kody Gardner, Kayley Gardner and Rusty Gardner, great-grandchildren Kailea Fujioka, Kamaha‘o Cabral and Maddie Fujioka, brothers Edean (Pua) Gardner of Anahola, Edward Sagre of Pahoa, Hawai‘i Island, Roger Sagre of Honolulu, brother-in-law Roger Taniguchi of Lihu‘e, sisters Iris (Darriel) Woodward of Monterey, California, Loy Ann Gardner of Monterey, California, Feona Kaho‘ohanohano of Nanakuli, O‘ahu and Mary Jane Sagre of Nanakuli, O‘ahu, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private services were held.

Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.

Frederico B. Bergonia

Frederico B. Bergonia passed away on Dec. 14, 2020, at the age of 93, at Wilcox Medical Center.

He was born on Feb. 19, 1927, in Lihu‘e. He was a labor irrigator with Lihu‘e Plantation Company.

He was preceded in death by wife Florencia Bergonia, daughters Frances Bergonia and Freida Bergonia, parents Eugenio and Maria Bergonia, brothers Martin Bergonia, Victorino Bergonia and Benny Bergonia, and sister Marcela Basconcillio.

He is survived by son Frederick D. (Germaline) Bergonia of Hanama‘ulu, grandchildren Bryson Bergonia and Kimberly Ovalles-Bergonia, brother Julian (Lani) Bergonia of California, sisters Marciana (Alfredo) Ballesteros of Hanama‘ulu, Esbella Moreno of California and Lapaz Fisher of Maryland, and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be at Garden Island Mortuary on Monday, Jan. 4, from 5 to 9 p.m., with rosary at 6:30 p.m. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.

The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Hisao ‘Pop’ Maeda

Hisao “Pop” Maeda, 88, of Kapa‘a, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Dec. 24, 2020. Born on June 12, 1932 at Ko‘olau, he retired as a highway inspector with the state Department of Transportation.

He is survived by daughter Sharyl (Douglas) Lam Yuen of Kapa‘a, grandsons Dean and Leland of Kapa‘a, great-grandchildren Aiden Lam Yuen of Kihei, Maui and Mason and Xabri Lam Yuen of Lihu‘e, and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by parents Shinsaku and Matsue Maeda, wife Irene N. and son Darryl H. Maeda, brothers Toshiaki Maeda and Wataru Maeda, and sisters Betty Shikibu, Doris Delmondo, Fujie Makishima, Gladys Yokotake and Maureen Taketa.

Private services will be held at a future date. The family kindly requests no koden (monetary gifts).

Alika S. Aguiar

Alika S. Aguiar passed away on Dec. 27, 2020, at the age of 49, in Waimea.

He was born on May 19, 1971 in Honolulu, and was a heavy equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather Edwin M. Aguiar, uncle Robert Aguiar, and maternal grandparents Reynolds and Lehua Horswill.

He is survived by parents Anthony and Renee Aguiar, brothers Ikaika E. Aguiar of Waimea, Kaimi Ike A. (Jan) Aguiar of O‘ahu, Keali‘i A. (Kisha) Aguiar of Kekaha and Iolana (Sara) Aguiar of Utah, sisters Kimber K. (Anna) Aguiar of Florida and Star K. Aguiar of Kekaha, and by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A walk-thru, talk story will be held at Garden Island Mortuary on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with a celebration of life at 10:30 a.m.

The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.

A limited amount of people will be allowed at the burial site.
