Jalouise Carlyle-Anderson

Jalouise Carlyle-Anderson was born in Port Townsend, Washington, on Oct. 7, 1984. She moved to the North Shore of Kaua‘i at the age of 1. She passed away on Jan. 9, 2023.

She was preceded in death by parents Douglas Hebron, Thea Carlyle, sister Jessie Monroe, husband Mikala Anderson and aunt Beatrice Hebron Bullock.

She is survived by hanai parents James and Julie Monroe, siblings Jake Monroe, Jenna Monroe (Kysen Lopez), aunts and uncle Bob (Becky) Carlyle, Julia Turner, hanai daughter Tiana Simpson, nieces and nephews Keenan Hebron-Woodward, Ikaika Hebron-Woodward, Junior Fernandez, Rachel Fernandez (Lionel), Brandon Price, Kainoa Price, Raja Counts, Kymani Counts, Keahi Lopez, Jessie Lopez, Jayda Lopez, grand nieces Kaileia Hebron-Woodward, Ailana Hebron-Woodward, cousins Jacob Carlyle, Jesse Carlyle, dearly beloved friends Thad Jenkins and Jenna Kerr, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life is Saturday, Feb. 18. The location is to be determined.

Jali was loved by all. The song has ended but the melody lingers on.

Ichiro Chiba

Ichiro Chiba, of ‘Ele‘ele, passed away on Nov. 26, 2022 at the age of 93. He was born on Feb. 26, 1929, in Waimea, and was a retired field survey supervisor for Gay & Robinson.

He was preceded in death by mother Shizuo Chiba, father Ryuichi Chiba, wife Carol M. Chiba, sisters Tamae Chiba Honda, Haruko Chiba Kamishita, Mitsue Chiba Games and brother Yutaka Chiba.

He is survived by sons Melvin I. (Sharon) Chiba of Lihu‘e, Nelson Y. Chiba of Lihu‘e, Wesley R. Chiba of Lihu‘e and Derrick S. Chiba of ‘Ele‘ele, daughter Susan N. Chiba (Charles) Brooks of Kalaheo, grandchildren Bradley I. Chiba, Stacie Chiba Miguel, Sandi M. Chiba Battles, Kevin Chiba, Michelle Chiba Emayo, Lauren N. Chiba, Kimberly K. Brooks, great-grandchildren Davian I. Chiba, Brinnley Chiba, Emalia Miguel, Cayden Miguel, Charlie Battles, Ameia K. Gallagher, Isabella M. Gallagher, Sophia Matsumura, Quinn U. Battles, Austyn Emayo, numerous nieces and nephews.

A service is Saturday, Jan. 28, at Garden Island Mortuary. Visitation is from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and funeral service at 3:30 p.m.

The family requests no koden (monetary gifts) or flowers please.
