Eddie Taniguchi Jr.

Eddie Taniguchi Jr. passed away on Oct. 20, 2020, at the age of 81, in Waimea.

He was born on Aug. 9, 1939 in Waimea. He was a ranch hand with Gay & Robinson.

He was preceded in death by parents Maria and Eddie Taniguchi Sr., son George Taniguchi, and sisters Sarah “Tita” Borengasser and Marveline “Nani” Gardner.

He is survived by his wife Eloise Taniguchi of Waimea, sons Roger (Lisa) Taniguchi of Pakala, Eddie (Krissy) Taniguchi III of Hanama‘ulu, Manuel Taniguchi of Lihu‘e, hanai son Eric Morris of Kalaheo, daughter Jasmine (Charlie) Kahepu‘u of Kekaha, grandchildren Elo Taniguchi, Kale, Kaina and Kalae Makua, Jessica “La,” Eric Jr., Trixy and Ciara Morris, Alannah Girod, Gabby, Nohili, CJ and Shania Kahepu‘u, Wyatt and Cody Taniguchi, Hoku Taniguchi and Britney Taniguchi, 38 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, brothers Roger (Jennifer) Taniguchi of Lihu‘e and Wayne (Raynette) Taniguchi of Kalaheo, brother-in-Law Clarence Gardner, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A walk-thru talk story will be held at Garden Island Mortuary on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a celebration of life from 11 a.m. to noon.

The family suggests cowboy or casual attire, and welcomes flowers.

Due to COVID-19, social distancing, facial masks and sanitizing hands required.

Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kelmar Hi‘ilani Kanahele

Kelmar Hi‘ilani Kanahele passed away on Oct. 18, 2020, at the age of 65, at Wilcox Medical Center.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1954 in Waimea, and was a master Ni‘ihau shell-maker.

He was preceded in death by dad Donald H. Kanahele and mom Annie K. Kanahele.

He is survived by hanai sons Kawelo Schweitzer of O‘ahu, Leleo (Lokahi Orian) Knappenberger of O‘ahu and Ka‘eo Izon of O‘ahu, hanai daughters Cheryl (John) W. Kahokuloa, Hi‘ipoi (Hopate) Vakameilau, Naniwai Kanahele, Tiffany Kanahele, Hiwa Kanahele, Poni Kahale, Nuggiez Kanahele, Kahikiui (Brian) Gerardo, Nawai (Alan) Kahale and Sydney (Sanjah) Morton, grandchildren John Austin K. Kaohelauli‘i, Kelly W. Kahokulo, Kuramatsu K. Kahokuloa, Ashlee Teighlor K. Kahokuloa, Ane Kanahele Vakameilau, Briton Kanahele, Kalele Kanahele, Kulama Kanahele, Moan Kanahele, Hiwa Boy Morton, Kiai Morton, Amileah Morton, Ariah Morton, Dayson Kaohelauli‘i, Dawson, Kauohelauli‘i, Kahikilani Kaohelauli‘i, Tatum Kaohelauli‘i, Luka Kanahele, Hi‘ilani Kanahele, Brianne Kanahele, Brylynn Kanahele, Bradon Kanahele, Maymay Kanahele, Lindy Delle Kanahele, Hemolele Kanahele, Wyatte Ikaika Kanahele and Oliwa Kanahele, brother Joseph (Maryann) Keoua Kanahele of Kaua‘i, sisters Ida (Gordon) Ka‘aumoana of Ni‘ihau, Diane (Bernard) Kanahele of Kaua‘i, Annie (George) Kanahele of Kaua‘i and Kay (Isaac) Kanahele of Kaua‘i.

A walk-thru talk story is at Garden Island Mortuary on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 to 10 a.m., with a celebration of life at 10 a.m. The family suggests aloha attire and welcomes flowers.

Allen Boyd Smith

Allen Boyd Smith passed away on Aug. 2, 2020, at the age of 52, in Lihu‘e.

He was born on Dec. 5, 1967, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a chef and construction worker.

He was preceded in death by father Ronald S. Smith, grandmother Estelle Mullins and aunt Sharron Mullins.

He is survived by wife Wendy D. Smith, mother Flora A. Mullins, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Scattering of ashes will take place at a later date.
