Duane ‘Poody’ Shigeto Yamaguchi

Duane “Poody” Shigeto Yamaguchi, 60, of Mililani, Hawaii, passed away on Sept. 20, 2019, in Honolulu. Born in Lihue, he worked at Hawaii Gas.

He is survived by wife Cindy, son Dustin, and sisters Wendy (Milton Koga) Yamaguchi and Candice (Fred) Pascual.

Services will be on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Mililani Memorial Park’s Mauka Chapel, with visitation at 5:30 p.m. and service at 6:30 p.m.

The family suggests casual attire.

Lawrence Gene Cuaresma

Lawrence Gene Cuaresma passed away at the age of 57 at his home in Saint Helena, California. He was born on Oct. 3, 1961, in Lihue. He was a retired district engineer with the City &County of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering.

He was preceded in death by father Eugenio Cuaresma and mother Consuelo Cuaresma.

He is survived by stepmother Conchita Cuaresma, sisters Patricia Cuaresma, Racquel (Reid) Samio and Shirri (Daynes) Sacro, and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai, with visitation at 9 a.m. and service to begin at 10:30 a.m.

The family suggests casual attire.

George Makuaole

George Makuaole passed away on Oct. 5, 2019, in Kekaha.

He was born on Dec. 18, 1933, in Waimea.

He was a heavy equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by wife Marion Makuaole and son Elton McKenzie Makuaole, and parents Keukua K. Makuaole and Eva Makuaole.

He is survived by son Timothy Makuaole of Honolulu, grandchildren Leilani Makuaole and Kiele Makuaole, brothers Bernard Makuaole of Kauai and Melvin Makuaole of Honolulu, sister Grace Acain of Kauai, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Kaneohe.

The family suggests casual attire.

Alika Huddy

Alika Huddy passed away on Dec. 3, 2019, in Hawaii.

He was born on March 17, 1972, in New York.

He was preceded in death by Tisha Huddy of Eleele and father Alexander Huddy.

He is survived by wife Trisha Huddy of Eleele and son AJ Huddy of Eleele, daughtes Stephanie Patricio-Huddy of Hanapepe, Tiffany Patricio-Huddy of Honolulu, dog Loke his garage dog, mother Diane Huddy of Eleele, brother Kainoa (Mele) Huddy of Kalaheo, and Leilani (Eddie) Huddy-O’Rourke of New York.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, Dec. 28, at Garden Island Mortuary, from 9 to 11 a.m., with Mass to follow at 11 a.m.

The family suggests casual attire.

Marie Gladys Itamura

Marie Gladys Itamura passed away on Nov. 28, 2019, in Kalaheo, at the age of 84.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1935, on Kauai. She was self-employed.

She was preceded in death by husband Raymond Itamura, parents Joaquin and Mary Souza, sister Jeanette Matsumura, brother Robert Souza, and great-grandchild Kayla Itamura.

She is survived by son Glenn (Barbara) Itamura of Hanamaulu, daughters Karen Ono of Puhi, Cheryl (List Ka‘aihue) Itamura of Kalaheo, Raynette (Wayne) Taniguchi of Kalaheo, nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, sister Yvonne (Edward) Souza of Kalaheo, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services on will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. at Garden Island Mortuary, with visitation from 2 to 3 p.m.

The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Kazuki Shimizu

Kazuki Shimizu passed away on Dec. 1, 2019, at Garden Isle Health Care. He was born on Jan. 3, 1923. He was a veteran with the U.S. Army and did auto body work.

He was preceded in death by wife Fuyuko Shimizu and daughter Diane S. Shimizu.

He is survived by sons Dennis (Lois) Shimizu of Pearl City and Les (Colleen) Shimizu of Honolulu, daughters Christine (Gary) Hashimoto of Lihue and Jeanne Shimizu of Lihue, grandchildren Shaun Shimizu, Tracie Sanjume, Ryan and Bryce Hashimoto and Lindsie Lacie Shimizu, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Garden Island Mortuary, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and services at 11 a.m.

The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.
