Bernice Juanita Naleiekolukananiokaua‘i Kuala Ragragola

Bernice Juanita Naleiekolukananiokauai Kualu Ragragola, of Kekaha, was born on Jan. 20, 1931, and passed away peacefully on March 25, 2021, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. She was a retired janitor at the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands. She was the last of her siblings.

She was preceded in death by parents Helen and William Haupu Kualu, husband Teofilo Ragragola, daughter Diane Keller, son Albert Ragragola, grandchildren John-Antony Ragragola, Rodrick Hubert Jr. and Resa Keller, brothers William Yadao, Stanley Yadao and Stanwick Yadao, sisters Becky Doronio, Agnes Mahinai, Grace “Nene” Hislop, Evelyn “Kanae” Olores and Helen “Lahapa” Dotimas.

She is survived by daughter Carmen (Alvin) Arashiro of Kekaha, sons Antonio “Blue” (Mila) Ragragola of Kekaha, Timoteo “Timmy” (Norma) Ragragola of Kekaha and Arnold (Kathy) Ragragola of Hanapepe, son-in-law Nelson Keller of Waimea, 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is Friday, April 30, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i, with viewing from 8 a.m. and service at 1 10 a.m.

Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.

Antonio ‘Tony’
Machacon Duyanen

Antonio “Tony” Machacon Duyanen, of Las Vegas, passed away on April 13, 2021, at the age of 75. He was born on Feb. 9, 1946, in Cili, Binalonan, Pangasinan, Philippines. He retired from the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa.

He was preceded in death by parents Melchor and Argonia Duyanen, in-laws Leonardo and Paulina Tomboc, brother Raymundo Duyanen and granddaughter Anjannette Duyanen.

He is survived by wife Elvira Duyanen, sons Christopher (Cresilda) Duyanen of Las Vegas and Roldan (Cassity) of Lihu‘e, daughters Marivie Duyanen and Gina (Michael) McDonald Duyanen, both of Las Vegas, brother Ernie Duyanen of Las Vegas, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services are Thursday, May 6, at David Funeral Homes and Memorial Park in Las Vegas, with viewing from 4 to 6 p.m. and a service to follow.

Ernest Javier

Ernest Javier passed away at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital on April 16, 2021, at the age of 81. He was born in Honolulu on Dec. 2, 1939. He was a retired worker from McBryde Sugar Company.

He was preceded in death by parents Serapion and Margaret Javier, sister Eupreciana Soucy, Loretta (Edward) Javier and brother Bonifacio Javier.

He is survived by wife Adeline Javier, sons Ernest (Brenda) Javier of Koloa, James (Loida) Javier of Lihu‘e, grandchildren Cleve (Paige) Javier, Brandee Javier, Trisha Javier and Shawn Javier, great-grandchildren Keana Lovell-Obatake, Lanakila Lovell-Obatake, Nakoa Lovell-Obatake, Drake Javier and Grace Javier, brothers Ronald (Pam) Javier, Seraphine (Bobo) Javier and Benjamin Javier, sisters Josephine (Harry) Lee and Bernadette Javier, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
