George Hiyane
George Hiyane, 98, of Kapa‘a, died in Fircrest, Washington, on Aug. 2, 2020. He was born on March 3, 1922, to Seiho and Otoki Hiyane. He was a Brewer Chemical retiree.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife Nellie Hiyane and sister Akiko Au Hoy.
He is survived by daughters Kathi (Robert) Hiyane-Brown and Lani (Akio) Nakazawa, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Sumiko Wilson and June Takano, and nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held. The family requests no flowers nor koden (monetary gifts).
Jonathan Joseph
Bromeo Villanueva
Jonathan Joseph Bromeo Villanueva, 55, of O‘ahu, passed away on July 19, 2020. He was born in Lihu‘e on July 23, 1964.
He was preceded in death by parents Jovencio Ben and Josephine Bromeo Villanueva.
He is survived by brother JoeBen (Emma) Villanueva, nephew Jonas Villanueva, sister JoMarie (Rolly) Hernando, niece Ryleigh Hernando, aunty Florence Bromeo Sina, uncle Oscar (Venus) Villanueva and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
Private services were held, with burial at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Andrew Joseph Jardine
Andrew Joseph Jardine passed away June 28, 2020, at the age of 41, on Kaua‘i.
He was born Aug. 26, 1978, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a systems specialist at Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative.
He was preceded in death by brother Benjamin Jardine, paternal grandparents Joseph and Dorothy (Daniels) Jardine and maternal grandparents Albert and June (Paukert) Steinbauer.
He is survived by parents David and Judith (Steinbauer) Jardine of Las Cruces, New Mexico, brothers Bartholomew (Lien) Jardine of Seattle, and Christopher (JoAnna Klein) Jardine of Minneapolis, niece Olivia, and nephew Ronin Jardine of Seattle, soul-mate Nichol Ishida of Honolulu, and aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He graduated from Washington High School, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1996. He received a bachelor’s degree from Macalaster College, St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2000.
He previously worked at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihu‘e and at Kapi‘olani Community College in Honolulu.
He loved the outdoors, especially hiking on Kaua‘i, ecology and computer games.
He is sorely missed by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
