William Manantan

William Manantan, 84, of Lihue, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 11, 2020. He was born in Lihue, on April 20, 1936. He served in the Navy for 20 years as a Broiler Technician, Owned and Operated Lorenzo’s Taxi and retired as a Bus Driver from the County of Kauai.

William was preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Theresa Manantan; sisters, Juanita Moises, Lucia Turner.

William is survived by his wife Orpha Manantan; daughters, Alicia (Everett Sr.) Robledo of California, Theresa Manantan-Phillips of Texas, Pualani Manantan Foster of Kauai; sons, Steven Manantan of Kauai, William (Sherina Rodero-Workman) Manantan Jr. of Kauai; sisters, Dora Jane Rowell of Minnesota, Pacita (carlton) Joyce of Maine; grandchildren, Kalani and Everett Robledo Jr., Malia Foster, Maleyna, Kaiona and Kamaile Manantan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at Lihue United Church on July 11, 2020. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. with services at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe. Face masks are required.

Remigio Lagrimas Dela Cruz

Remigio Lagrimas Dela Cruz passed away on June 8, 2020, at Wilcox Hospital, at the age of 77. He was born on Jan. 24 1942, in Mayantoc, Tarlac, Philippines. He retired from Kauai Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC).

Remigio was preceded in death by father Silvestre D. Dela Cruz; mother Segundina L. Dela Cruz; sister Adoracion Dela Cruz; late wife Amy E. Dela Cruz; adopted son Aaron Paul Oana Dela Cruz.

Remigio is survived by wife Evelyn Oana Dela Cruz; sons, Rey G. Dela Cruz of Omao, Koloa, Remigio L. Dela Cruz, Jr. of Hanapepe, Robert G. Lourdes “Lori” Veronica Maglinti Alisna

Lourdes “Lori” Veronica Maglinti Alisna of Hanama‘ulu, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the age of 84.

Born on Aug. 6, 1935 in Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, she was a retired Dining Room Manager for Kaua‘i Resorts from its opening until its closing for more than forty years. She also worked for Wilcox Elementary School as a Cafeteria Assistant and babysat a dozen of children in her retirement years.

Lourdes was preceded in death by father Juan “Johnny” Dela Cruz Maglinti Sr., mother Esidra Mangilit Maglinti; sisters, Sally Susan Maglinti, Violetta Maglinti, Mary Maglinti, Catherine Maglinti, Josephine Maglinti, Pacita (Alfredo) Castillo, Natividad Ligaya Saflor, Inocencia “Sencia” Hoyhoy, Gloria Santos; and brothers, Gilberto Maglinti, Alexander Maglinti Sr., William Maglinti Sr., Johnny “Juan” (Alice Almeida) Maglinti Jr., Antonio “Sabu/Tony” (Rosario “Rose” Patigayon) Maglinti, George (Catherine Munar) Maglinti; son Wayne Alisna; and great grandchild Jordaen Alisna.

Lourdes is survived by her husband Domingo “Domi” Alisna Sr.; sons Perry (Kathy) Alisna, Dominic “Mickey” (Margie) Alisna, Domingo “Anthony” Alisna Jr., James (Lianne) Alisna Sr., and Peter (Lorna) Alisna Sr.; daughter Donna (Primo) Ragsac Jr.; brother Vicente Maglinti Sr.; sister Incarnation “Inky” Ortiz; eighteen grandchildren – Gabriel Alisna, Stacy Mendoza, Garrett Alisna, Chad Ragsac, David Alisna, Bryson Alisna-Ragsac, Brandon Tatemichi, Ronessa “Nessa” Alisna, Kelsey Alisna, Peter “Petey Boy” Alisna Jr., Christopher John “CJ” Alisna, Tiffany “Titi” Alisna, James “Jimmy Boy” Alisna Jr., Gregory “Yongie” Alisna, Taryn Alisna, Kevin “Kaika” Yadao-Alisna, Brian Yadao-Alisna, and Naomi “Omi” Yadao-Alisna; and twenty-six great grandchildren – Taylor Bryanna Ragsac, Loea Garza-Alisna, Kanei Alisna-Kolo, Kiana Alisna, Jasmyne Mendoza, Taylor Alisna, Jesley Mundon, Jacy-Mae Mendoza, Jahnei Mundon, Kameryn Alisna, Jeneley Mendoza, Chyston Alisna, Jax Ragsac, Ryder Ragsac, Jaela Cano Ragsac, Jazper Ragsac-Mendoza, Arianna Alisna, Jaevn Alisna, Waika Dias-Alisna, Ayanna Ragsac, Kaikea Agayan-Yadao-Alisna, Haelynn Agayan-Yadao-Alisna, Bryden Medina-Yadao-Alisna, Koamalu Tatemichi, Elijah Singer, and Waika Agayan-Yadao-Alisna.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Saint Catherine Catholic Church in Kapa‘a, with viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. Mass will begin at 10 a.m. for immediate family only due to Covid-19 restrictions and Church capacity. Family and friends may witness the burial at St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery at 11 a.m.

The Alisna Family would like to especially thank the team of doctors, nurses, and aides at Wilcox Hospital and Kaua‘i Hospice, especially Jolene Cabiline for her warm compassion and tender care for our wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunty, and friend.

Gustavo Alfredo Albuja Orellana Sr.

Gustavo Alfredo Albuja Orellana Sr., 60, of Lihue, passed away on June 19, 2020. He was born in Ecuador on Nov. 28, 1959. He owned and operated Gus Tile Marble & Granite Shop.

Gustavo is survived by his wife Aminta E. Albuja, sons Gustavo (Juli) Albuja and Michael Albuja, daughter Jennifer (Oliver) Gray, parents Jorge and Teresa Albuja, siblings Doris (Dulio) Amaya, Jorge (Sandy) Albuja, Janet Albuja, Jose (Lorena) Albuja, grandson Leo Gustavo Gray and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Monday, July 6, 2020. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with services at 10 a.m. Face masks are required.

Ludovico Corpus Bautista

Ludovico Corpus Bautista passed away on April 17, 2020, at Garden Isle Healthcare at the age of 90. He was born on Oct. 2, 1929 in Hilo. He was a laborer for Lihue Plantation.

Ludovico was preceded in death by wife Violeta Bautista; brother Esmael Bautista; daughter Lilia Bautista; grandsons, Fredelyn Bautista Sebastian, Ronald Cadelina Bautista.

Ludovico is survived by sons, Jaime Bautista (Estrelita) of Kauai, Erlindo Bautista (Christina) of Hilo, Loreto Bautista (Nancy) of Kona, Judie Bautista Sr. (Lorna) of Kauai; daughters, Erlinda Sebastian (Mateo) of Kauai, Consolacion Tadeo (Apolinario) of Hilo, Corazon De Guzman (Romulo) of Las Vegas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nathan Nalei Naumu

Nathan Nalei Naumu, 59, native son of Kauai and longtime resident of Las Vegas Nevada, died on June 5, 2020, at home. He graduated Waimea High School in 1979. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran.

Nathan was predeceased by his father Hughes Nahuka and mother Dorothy Bayot, brother Hughes Jr ³Tino², son Tallon Patrick, and wife Karen Cruz.

Nathan is survived by son Daniel (Jaisa), granddaughter Gabrielle Grace, grandson Julian, son Timothy (Tiffany), grandson Kaleb, son Nate Palmore, Virgina, sister Yvette Gettner, California, sister Nadine Naumu, Hawaii, and brother Troy Naumu, Nevada.

Arrangements by Desert Memorial Cremation in Las Vegas. No mainland services held. Military service pending Oct. 2021 at KVC on Kauai.

Barbara Vail Wilkes

Barbara Vail Wilkes of Kilauea passed away on June 28, 2020, at home. She was 76 years old. Barbara was a surgical RN at Mass General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts for over 40 years before retiring to Kauai.

Barbara is survived by her sister Gail Wilkes of Kilauea, first cousins Wheaton Vail Simis of Vermont and William Simis of Springfield, Massachusetts.

A celebration of her life will be planned in the future.

Gladys S. Hashimoto

Gladys S. Hashimoto passed away on June 27, 2020, in Lihue, at the age of 91. She was born on Feb. 12, 1929, in Hanalei.

Gladys is survived by daughters Patricia Hashimoto-Ferreira (Robert), June West (Kalei Goo), grandchildren Kaikea Kaanaana, Kamanu Kajiwara (Jennifer), Keola Kajiwara (Lydia Keawe), Kaina West (Sydney Lac), great-grandchild Kyro Kajiwara, father Chow Tuck Sun, mother Christina Sun, brothers Handsome (Kay) Sun, Andrew (Eunice) Sun of Kalaheo, Gilbert Sun, sisters Jane Kinzie of Anahola, Elise Carrillo of Lihue, Marilyn “Tootsie” (Gene) Rayno of Lihue, numerous nieces and nephews.

Douglas Tirso Cruz Aviguetero

Douglas Tirso Cruz Aviguetero departed this life and went to heaven on June 24, 2020, at his home in Kaumakani. Born on Sept. 6, 1957, in Waimea, he was previously a welder for Olokele Sugar Co. & Gay & Robinson, and most recently a Resting Gear Mechanic for Harris Corp.

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents Fredric Cruz and Mary Kapahu Aviguetero, his son Scott Dale Lanakila Cruz Aviguetero, along with grand daughters Anela May and Deven Nordmeier.

Douglas is survived by his wife June Dale Furtado, three daughters Chanel (Danford) Kaeo, Raquel (Nathan) Santos, Devi (Kevin) Nordmeier, Ashlee (Chad) Pimental, hanai children Isaiah (Kea) Kanahele, Brandon Hamada, grandchildren Harley-Lyn, Renee, Nainoa, Hayley-Jay, Heidee-Lei, Keiara, Danford, Alena. Along with his seven brothers Fred (Walnita) Aviguetero, Henry (Jasmine) Aviguetero, Marshal (Teresa) Aviguetero, Elvis (Sharla) Aviguetero, Rocky (Lola) Aviguetero, David Aviguetero and Patrick Aviguetero, his three sisters Carmelita Haumea, Estrellita “Eta”(Shane) Castillo, Estelle ‘Nelly’ (Jeremy Hausam) Aviguetero, numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

Bradyn Ken Hoff

Bradyn Ken Hoff, 20 of Lawai, passed away on June 29, 2020. Brady was a beloved son, grandson and friend.

Bradyn is survived by parents mother Gina and father Owen, his 2 brothers Devin and Ethan. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents John and Lorna Hoff, maternal grandparents Charleen Emura and Ed MacDowell and Keith and Ellen Everly, his maternal great-grandfather Henry Emura, uncles Kai (Erin Hoff), Aaron (Celeste) Hoff, Ken (Megan) Everly, Aunty Koi Moon, numerous cousins and girlfriend Kama Haumea-Thronas.

Bradyn worked at Lawai Beach Resort and was an avid surfer, fisherman and loved the outdoors. He will be forever missed and loved.

The family will announce memorial services at a later time.
