Maurice Alfred Ruiz

Maurice Alfred Ruiz passed away on March 19, 2021, at the age of 72, in Suisun, California. He was born on Sept. 30, 1948, in Waimea. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Surgical Services Technician, Vehicle Operator/Dispatcher and an Air Cargo Specialist.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Aniscacia Ruiz, brother Renfred Ruiz, and sister Ginger Lee Ruiz.

Maurice is survived by his wife Mi Yong Kim Ruiz of California, daughter Mihe Muraoka (Walter) of Honolulu, 2 grandchildren, brother Fredric Ruiz (Luisa) of Kekaha, sister Dianna “Dee” Ruiz Young (Llewellyn “Lew”) of Kekaha, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Garden Island Mortuary on May 1, 2021, from 9 to 11 a.m. Service at 11:30 a.m. Casual attire suggested and flowers welcome.Due to COVID-19, social distancing and a mask is required.

Tsuneyo H. Ikeda

Tsuneyo H. Ikeda passed away on April 9, 2021, in Lihu‘e at the age of 94. She was born on March 12, 1927 on Kaua‘i. She was a retired Postmaster at the Kaumakani Post Office.

Tsuneyo was preceded in death by her husband Toshio Ikeda and daughter Fay Nihei.

Tsuneyo is survived by her son Mitchell (Carol) Ikeda of Lihu‘e, daughter Lorraine (Galen) Ikeda-Yee of Washington, 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private service will be held at a later date. The family request no koden or flowers.

Edie ‘Eddison’ Sallotan Bucao

Edie “Eddison” Sallotan Bucao, 59, of Hanama‘ulu passed away on March 29, 2021, on O‘ahu. He was born on Jan. 10, 1962, in Davila Pasuquin, Illocos Norte and worked on Kaua‘i as housekeeper at Hyatt Regency Kaua‘i and as a food stocker at Safeway.

Eddison was preceded in death by his parents Mariano and Violeta Bucao.

Eddison is survived by his wife Lilia Bucao, his children Jason and Jenny Lynn Bucao, sisters Nori (Nestor) Laciste, Precy (James) Bucao, Dally (Hermogenes Jr) Lapurga, Lerma (Reynante) Moravek, brothers Edmar (Marlyn) Bucao and Efren (Glenda) Bucao.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021. 10 a.m. Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, with a viewing at 11 a.m. to be held at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, followed by burial at 1:30 p.m. at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
