Barbara A.Y. Hataishi

Barbara A.Y. Hataishi, 85, of Kalaheo, passed away on Dec. 14, 2018. Born on June 30, 1933, in Koloa, she was a retired secretary with McBryde Sugar Company.

She is survived by her husband, Valentine Hataishi of Kalaheo; sisters, Janet Gerboc of Honolulu, Amy Hand of Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Hanapepe United Church of Christ. Visitation at 10 a.m. Services at 11 a.m. Family suggests casual attire. Please no koden.

Felicidad Batis Valdez

Felicidad Batis Valdez, 92, of Kekaha, passed away on Dec. 13, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. Born on Nov. 1, 1926, in Honolulu, she was a hostess and school bus driver.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Tranquilino Valdez; son, Charles Valdez.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald (Novena) Valdez of Eleele, Stanford Valdez of Eleele; daughters, Juliette Valdez of Oahu, Erlinda (Dennis) Valdez Schliewe of Nevada, Sylvia (Eli) Valdez Pablo of Kaumakani; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Hilaria Batis Ariola of Lawai, Marie Batis Ceballos of Kekaha, Juanita Batis Parongao of Eleele; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family at Lawai Seventh Day Adventist Church on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, from 2:30 p.m. and services to follow at 3:30 p.m. Family suggests casual attire.

Peter Allen Tegan

Peter Allen Tegan, 73, of Lihue, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 19, 2018. He was born in Everett, Massachusetts, on Dec. 18, 1945, and was the owner of Prosser Realty, Inc.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Tegan; beloved brothers, Richard and Charles (Chuck); by his sweet Aunt Dorothy; by loving sister-in-law, Lorraine; dear brother-in-law, Mike Foster of Phoenix, and by stepdaughter, Mary Kay Wilber.

Peter is survived by his wife, Linda Lach of Lihue; beloved brother, John of Boston; dearest sister-in-law, Jane of Mansfield, Massachusetts; many wonderful nieces and nephews and their spouses, partners and children; son, Tim (Marci) Lach of Kapaa; granddaughter, Chelsea Lach of Florida; grandson, Tim (Trish) Wilber of South Carolina and their children; loving sister-in-law, Claire Foster of California; dear brother-in-law, Ralph (P.J.) Foster of South Carolina. He also leaves behind large groups of friends, in California, Hawaii and all over the country.

Peter requested no formal services be held. A Celebration of his Life will be announced at a later date.

Genzo Philip Nabeshima

Genzo Philip Nabeshima, 85, passed away on Nov. 30, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. Born on Sept. 16, 1933, in Port Allen, he was a retired as a heavy equipment operator and also he was in the National Guard.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Julia Buduan Nabeshima; parents, Genshiro and Taju Nabeshima; brothers, Gengo and Genchi Nabeshima.

He is survived by his sons, Philip (Lorna) Nabeshima of Hanapepe, Raynard (Dawn) Nabeshima of Oahu, Neil (Marlene) Nabeshima of Kaumakani; daughter, Danette (Clinton) Fujii of Lihue; grandchildren, Danielle, Cyndi, Dayna Fujii, Elisha, Neil, Jade, Ashley Nabeshima; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Emiko Arakaki of Koloa; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai from 10 a.m. and services will be at 11 a.m. Family suggests casual attire.
