Adam J. Mendonca

Adam J. Mendonca, 84, passed away at his home in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on Jan. 6, 2021. He was born on Aug. 30, 1936, in ‘Ele‘ele. He proudly served in the US Navy for 20 years.

Adam was preceded in death by his parents John and Emily Mendonca, brothers Robert Allen and Raymond Mendonca.

Adam is survived by his wife Carla Kay Mendonca, brother Lawrence Mendonca, daughters Patricia Ann (John C.) Carder, Deborah Ann (Michael W.) Hamlin, Mary Ann (Thomas) McGuire, Buffie Ann Mendonca Son Adam J, (Betty L.) Mendonca Jr. 7 granddaughters 5 grandsons, 2 great grandsons and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Because of COVID-19, a private burial at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery will be at a later date.

Escolastico (Koy) Mira

Escolastico (Koy) Mira passed away on Jan. 19, 2021, at the age of 91 . He was born on Feb. 10, 1929. He was a retired Veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force.

Koy was preceded in death by his wife Rita Mira, daughter Celeste Mira.

Koy is survived by his son Terence (Debbie) Mira of Arizona, daughter Gemma (Clyde) Souza of Kalaheo, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister Lucy (Alfred) Alao of Lihu‘e,numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celebration of Life will be on Feb. 26, 2021, at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.

Arrangements assisted by Garden Island Mortuary.

Janell Ululani Artaho

Janell Ululani Artaho passed away on Dec 30, 2020. She was born on June 26,1966, on the island of Kaua‘i.

Janell was preceded in death by her father Ralph Artaho Sr. and Baby Rhonda Marie Artaho.

Janell is survived by her daughter Joelle Souza, sons Terrence (Shea) Tafoya, Elmo (Natalie) Tafoya, Joseph (Chelsie)Tafoya, mother Emily Artaho, sisters Donna Higa, Enola Lum, Priscilla (Ralph) Yawata, Patrice (Randy) Silva, Ingrid (Latham) Keaweamahi, brother Ralph Jr (Sandi) Artaho, seven grand-children, numerous nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life will be held on Feb. 14, 2020, with a flower drop and spreading of her ashes at Koloa Landing from 10 a.m. to noon.
