James Caronilla Simbre

James Caronilla Simbre passed away on Feb. 1, 2022, at the age of 73, in Kekaha. He was born on June 20, 1948 in Wahiawa, O‘ahu. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by brothers William Domingo, Pancing Lopez, Domingo Lopez and Eugene Ventura, and sisters Leonita Jeffries and Beatrice Simbre.

He is survived by son Joshua Godfrey of Kaua’i, daughter Naomi Lee of O‘ahu, five grandchildren, parents Urbano Sudaria Simbre and Mary Caronilla Simbre, brothers Lorenzo Simbre of Kaua‘i, Stephen Simbre of Hawai‘i, Richard (Linda) Simbre of O‘ahu, Urbano (Robin) Simbre Jr. of O‘ahu, Edward Ventura of California and Robert (Carol) Ventura of O‘ahu, sisters Jane Ringor of O‘ahu, Elizabeth Jardin of Texas and Shirley R. (Wayne) Simbre-Medeiros of Kaua‘i, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is at Salt Pond Beach Park main pavilion Saturday, Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Norman D. Duterte

Norman D. Duterte, 67, or Lihu‘e, passed away on Dec. 7, 2021. He was born in Lihu‘e on Sept. 16, 1954, and worked as a cook.

He was preceded in death by parents Pedro and Loretta Duterte and brothers Serafine Duterte and Pedro “Pork Chop” Duterte.

He is survived by siblings Robert Duterte of Hanama‘ulu, Lorry (Jenelle) Duterte of Wailua, Jerilynn (Nick) Agor of California and Alan (Vanessa) Duterte of Kapa‘a and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and one aunt.

A celebration of life is Saturday, Feb. 26, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m.

Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

William Fukuichi Morita

William Fukuichi Morita passed away on Feb. 4, 2022, at the age of 90, in Lihu‘e. He was born on Aug. 12, 1931. He was a ticket agent for Aloha Airlines and a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by parents Hajime and Yei Morita, brothers Haruo Morita, Kaoru Morita and Mitsuo Morita, and sister Mabel Senda.

He is survived by wife Sanae Morita of Lihu‘e, sons Brent (Yasuko) Morita of California and Stuart (Kimberly) Morita of Kaua‘i, daughter Sabrina Irish of O‘ahu, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service is at Lihu‘e Christian Church on Friday, Feb.18, with visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by service at 10 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and resquests that flowers be omitted.

Monica Anohea Davis

Monica Anohea Davis passed away in Abilene, Texas, surrounded by family and friends, on Jan. 17, 2022. She was born on Nov. 14, 1968, in Waimea, and was an outreach specialist with Draco Services.

She was preceded in death by parent Richard Davis, grandparents Anderson and Sophie Kilauano, Henry Peralta Sr. and William and Marilyn Mossman and son Blaze Lopez.

She is survived by parents Glenn and Vida Mossman and Henry Peralta Jr., daughters Taylor (Brian) Imaoka and Ashlea Cacal, life-partner Colin Young, grandmother Trinidad Peralta, sister Kaulana Mossman, brothers Jason (Brandy) Peralta and Joshua (Darian) Peralta, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and friends.

Memorial services are Saturday, March 12, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kekaha, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by services. A private burial will occur at a future date. The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers. Due to COVID-19 and in the best interest of those in attendance, social distancing and masks are required.
