Virginia A. Rapozo

Virginia A. Rapozo, 97, who was born in and lived in Kalaheo, passed away on May 17, 2022, at Wilcox Medical Center in Lihu‘e. She attended Kalaheo School and graduated from Waimea High School. While working on O‘ahu, she met, fell in love with and married Frank Rapozo, the love of her life. They were married for 53 years until his passing in 2003.

Frank and Virginia returned to Kalaheo to start their life together, and raised a daughter and a son. Besides being an industrious homemaker, she was a forward-thinking rancher who was always trying to improve their small herd. Raising cattle, horses, plants, gardening, fishing, hunting, cooking and storytelling were a few of her many joys.

She was preceded in death by parents John and Mary Costa Ayres, sisters Emily (Frank) Souza, Frances Corral, brothers Joaquin (Nancy) Corral, Manuel (Frances) Corral and Joseph (Carrie) Corral.

She is survived by daughter Barbara (Lawrence) Rego, son John Rapozo, grandchildren Tamara (Jeffrey Garcia) Rego, Andrew (Paula) Rego, Alithia Rapozo, Nicholas Rapozo, great-grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Malia and Marcus Manipon, Isaac, Nathan and Noah Rego, brother Antone (Josephine) Corral, caregivers Diane C. Cooke, Helen Mattingly, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private service, with burial to follow, will be held at Holy Cross Church on Thursday, July 21.

Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert ‘Boobie’ W.P. Leoiki

Robert “Boobie” W. P. Leoiki passed away on July 2, 2022, in Kekaha, at the age of 78. He was born on Oct. 31, 1943, in Lihu‘e. He was a welder.

He was preceded in death by father Jack Maha Leoiki, mother Florence Kapule, sisters Roseline Lokalia Tremaine and Eileen Ululani Malama and brother Rosedale “Braddah” Leoiki.

He is survived by brother Rodney Charman Leoiki of Kaua‘i, sisters Pinky Malama of Kaua‘i, Sharon Maha Leoiki of Kaua‘i and Lolly Malama of Kaua‘i, caregivers Jackie Malama Lee and Preston Lee, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service will be held at a later date.

Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elionne Cybele Cambeilh

Elionne Cybele Cambeilh, 51, of Kapa‘a, passed away at home on May 19, 2022. She was born in New York on Sept. 5, 1970, and was a licensed massage therapist.

She was preceded in death by parents Paul and Phillis Cambeilh.

She is survived by sister Noelle (Renae) Hamilton-Cambeilh, brothers Colin and Brian Stair, companion Wailani Kahokuloa, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends in New York.

Private services were held.

Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Linda Margaret Chong

Linda Margaret Chong of Hanama‘ulu passed away on June 22, 2022, at her home, at the age of 73. She was born in Canada on Sept. 25, 1948. She was the sole proprietor of Noe’s Bar & Grill.

She was preceded in death by mother Elizabeth Margaret Moore and father John Andrew Carlson.

She is survived by daughters Trish (Mark) Dill and Noe (Neal) Yoshino, son ‘Ekolu (Pualani Belmonte) Chong and five grandchildren.

A private service will be held at a later date.
