Alexandra Halasey

Our loving sister, Alexandra Halasey, passed away on June 26, 2022. She was born on April 15, 1957.

She was a devoted family member and will be missed by her family and many friends. She grew up in Southern California and moved to Kaua‘i in 1983.

As a college graduate she found work at the Coco Palms Hotel in the accounting department, and later helped her brother, Joe Halasey, run his fruit stand on the North Shore. She was an excellent caregiver to her elderly parents, and in the last few years enjoyed her retirement living in Kilauea.

She is survived by sisters Janet Kutkowski and Blair Church, brother Joe Halasey, seven nieces and nephews and one grand-nephew.

We will miss her dearly.

Tomiko Gushiken

Tomiko Gushiken, 92, of Kilauea, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on May 30, 2022. She was born on March 25, 1930, in Okinawa, and retired from Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by husband Shigeru Gushiken, daughters Joyce Gushiken and Jane Nishioka.

She is survived by sons Roy (Audrey) Gushiken and George Gushiken, two grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private services were held.

Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Bruce M. Parsil

Bruce M. Parsil, 85, of Kalaheo, passed away at home. He was born in New Jersey. He was a volunteer naturalist for the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge and National Tropical Botanical Garden.

He was preceded in death by parents Edwin and Ruth Parsil.

He is survived by wife Christy Taylor-Parsil and brother Edwin Parsil Tucson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
