Marian Yoshie Teshima

Marian Yoshie Teshima passed away on April 1, 2021, at the age of 94, in Hanapape. She was born on June 8, 1926, in Wahiawa. She was an Office Clerk.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Toshio Teshima, parents Kinji and Tamayo Kouchi, brother Robert Kouchi, sister Clara Niino.

Marian is survived by her daughters Kathleen (Alvin) Fujii of Everett, Washington, Lynette (Timothy) Floyd of Murrieta, California, 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral service will be postponed until a later date.

Donald Takashi Sugibayashi

Donald Takashi Sugibayashi, 81, of Honolulu, passed away at Kaiser Medical Center in Honolulu on Sunday, April 25, 2021. He was born in Lihu‘e.

Private service was held.

Martina Vermudez Pagatpatan

Martina Vermudez Pagatpatan of Hanamaulu, passed away at Queens Medical Center, O‘ahu at the age of 71, on April 20, 2021. She was born on May 24, 1949, in the Philippines. She was a housewife.

Martina was preceded in death by her father Anastacio Vermudez, mother Marcelina Dacanay, brothers Alberto and Honorable Vermudez.

Martina is survived by her husband Loreto Pagatpatan, sons Edward (Rosalie) Pagatpatan, Vick (Maricel) Pagatpatan, daughters Aileen Pagatpatan, Nemalyn Pagatpatan, brother Rogelio Vermudez, 8 grandchildren, numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may visit the family on Friday, May 21, 2021, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel, Koloa. Visitation at 10 a.m. Service at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens, Lihue. Due to Covid-19 limited seating with social distancing and masks required.

Daniel Kirby Silva

Daniel Kirby Silva passed away on April, 6, 2021, at his home in Tacoma, Washington. He was 63 years old. He was born March 7, 1958, in Lihu‘e.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents William I. Silva and Isabella Ramson Silva.

Daniel is survived by 6 siblings Naomi (the late Manuel) Emproso, William Silva (the late (Jodine Silva), Diane (Don) Okuno, Dean (Glends) Silva, Leila (Julian) Fernandez-Cardoso, Jewel Silva, numerous nieces and nephews.

Private memorial to be held for family and friends.

David H. Stewart

David H. Stewart of Wailua Homesteads, passed away on April 30, 2021, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on Oct. 16, 1939. After a career centered on computer systems and corporate management, David began his active retirement on Kaua‘i in 1990.

David was preceded in death by parents Versile and Alice Stewart and sister Marilynn Hamdorf.

Surviving are his wife Donna Stewart of Wailua Homesteads, son Eric (Jodi) Stewart of Vancouver, Washington, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, nephews and cousins.

Informal outdoor reception will be on Saturday, May 22, 2021, 1 to 3 p.m. at 324 Aina Manu Place, Wailua Rise Estates. Face masks and social distancing are requested. Celebration of life and interment In Honolulu will be held in August.

Nancy Soltren

Nancy L. Soltren, 80, of Kapa‘a, passed away on May 9, 2021, at Garden Isle Health Care. She was born on May 1, 1941, and was a dedicated home maker.

Nancy was preceded in death by husband Eddie Soltren, brother Gary Guy and sister Laurie Guy.

Nancy is survived by her sons Brandon and Jabba Catley, brother Bruce Guy, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at St. Sylvester Church in Kilauea. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with mass to follow at 11 a.m. Social Distancing and face masks are required.

Teresita ‘Tess’ L. Villanueva

Teresita “Tess” L. Villanueva of Hanapepe, passed away at Queens Medical Center, O‘ahu on April 26, 2021, at 61 years old. Born on October 4, 1959, in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was employed at Lawai Beach Resort, Poipu.

Tess was preceded in death by her parents Juan and Clarafina Lumang and sister Imelda Villanueva.

Tess is survived by her husband Loreto Villanueva, son Harold (Gema ) Lumang and one grandchild.

Friends may visit the family on Friday, May 14, 2021, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. and Service at 11 a.m.. Social distancing and masks required due to COVID-19. Burial to follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.
