Gilmore ‘Bozo’ Alfred Pia

Gilmore “Bozo” Alfred Pia, of Maui, passed away on Aug. 10, 2020, at the age of 65. He was born on Aug. 1, 1955 in Lihu‘e. He was retired and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Gilmore was preceded in death by his parents Henry L. and Mecuria Pia, in-laws Felix C. Sr. and Louise M. Vellina, brother Montgomery L. Pia, and twin daughters Melissa Kealanohea Pia Laranio and Misty Kaoholani Pia Laranio.

Gilmore is survived by his wife of 29 years Sharon A. Pia, son Darren (Lana) G. Pia, daughter Shyla (Brandon) Delos Santos, Chalsea (Peter) Vellina Pia, Henry Kekoa (Jena) Pia, and sister Lynette McComas, 7 grandchildren, numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and his pet dogs Mana, Penn, and Pua.

A viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at Norman’s Mortuary at 105 Waiale Rd., Wailuku, Maui, from 10 to 11 a.m. COVID-19 restrictions apply. Masks and social distancing are required.

A memorial to honor Gilmore “Bozo” Alfred Pia will be announced later post COVID-19 restrictions.

Kate ‘Katie’ Liloa DeCosta

Kate “Katie” Liloa DeCosta 57, died Aug. 6, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital on O‘ahu. She was born on Kaua‘i on May 7, 1963, and worked in the Hospitality Industry on O‘ahu.

Kate was preceded in death by step-mother Conchita DeCosta and step-sister Helena Oyamot.

Kate is survived by her son Bryson Gabriel-DeCosta, mother Una May (Thomas) Kuhlmann, father Francis “Cucu” DeCosta, sister Manette (Bob) DeCosta, brothers Francis “Bradda” (Lilian) DeCosta, Desmond Moniz, step-sisters Tammy (Teddy) Perreira, Stanette (Melvin) Kua, Kimberly (Keala) Lanning, Ku’ulei and Kelly Ann Kuhlmann, step-brother Nick (Sunshine) Kuhlmann, brother-in-law, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private viewing was held for immediate family members. A Celebration of this amazing life will be held at a later date.
