Amanda Michelle Skelton

Amanda Skelton, 44, of Kalaheo, passed away Aug. 9, 2022, from an apparent heart attack while traveling. She was born Aug. 30, 1977, in Dallas, Texas, to Bill and Maria Skelton.

She was preceded in death by her mother Maria.

She is survived by partner Brian Gillen of Rumson, New Jersey, father Bill Skelton of Lihu‘e, brother Edward Skelton (Lisa) of Flower Mound, Texas and sister Cynthia Skelton (David Cooper) of Dunedin, Florida.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Koloa Union Church at 3 p.m. followed by a pot luck reception at Poipu Beach park. Masks will be required at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Napali Coast Ohana ( or the Kaua‘i Native Plant Society (

Caroline Lucille Ortiz

Caroline Lucille Ortiz, 81, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Aug. 18, 2022. She was born on Jan. 26, 1941, in Honolulu. She was a dedicated homemaker.

She is survived by children Warren (Johnna) Madeira, Russell Lopez, Denise (Gordon) Ladao, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, siblings Alice Komine, Mercy Balli, Helen Martin, Edward Rondon, Darlene Chaviera, Gilbert Supebedia, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will hold private services.

Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Warlito “Lito” V. Cadiente

Warlito “Lito” V. Cadiente passed away on Aug. 9, 2022, at the age of 56. He was born on Oct. 27, 1965, in Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was an Irrigation Foreman at Kaua‘i Nursery and Landscaping.

He was preceded in death by parents Federico and Caridad Cadiente, brothers Andres Cadiente, Corazon Cadiente and Federico Cadiente Jr.

He is survived by wife Gina Cadiente, sons Kevin Cadiente, Marc Cadiente, daughters Kathleen Cadiente, Kelsey Cadiente-Lin, Desiree Cadiente, brothers Robert (Lydia) Cadiente, Fortunato (Aida) Cadiente, Dennis (Eileen) Cadiente, sisters Erlinda (Prisco) Ancheta, Merlina (Manny) Catbagan and Gorgonia (Roger) Barr.

A celebration of life is at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary on Friday, Sept. 16, with visitation at 10:30 a.m. followed by service at 11:30 a.m.
