Marciana ‘Nana Gaboy’

Marciana “Nana Gaboy” Gambito Gaboy passed away at home on Jan. 24, 2022 at the age of 102. She was born on May 23, 1919, in Candon City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by parents Francisco and Josefa Gambito, husband Vicente Gaboy, sons Teodoro, Manuel and Ely, daughter Elena, numerous sisters and a brother.

She is survived by children Priscila (Orlando) Maduro, Virginia (Alan) Wiebe, Victoria (Armando) Dometita, Fatima Emma Gambito Gaboy, Florencia Haber Gaboy and Perla Rentutar Gaboy, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, Feb. 12, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary chapel, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by service at 10:30 a.m. and burial at Koloa Public Cemetery.

Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Alejandro Balocan Sr.

Alejandro Balocan Sr. passed away on Jan. 30, 2022 in Koloa at the age of 87. He was born on Sept. 11, 1934 in Lihu‘e. He was a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by parents Teodolfo and Claudia Balocan and son Antone Balocan.

He is survived by wife Corazon Bargayo Balocan of Koloa, sons Ali Balocan Jr. of Lawa‘i, Alan (Dawn) Balocan of Waimea and Bully (Penny) Balocan of Kapa‘a, daughters Alicia (Stan) Sarmiento of Kapa‘a, Cora (Ted Garma) Balocan of Lihu‘e and Gloria (Alan) Hiranaka of Kapa’a, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and sister Bea (Ike) Ysseldyke of Michigan, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
