Jamie Bermodez

Jamie Bermodez, 88, passed away Jan. 26, 2022, in Mililani, O‘ahu. He was born April 14, 1933 in Waimea. He lived in Mililani and was a retired supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service.

He was preceded in death by wife Consuella (aka Connie) Kaleolani Bermodez, son James Matthew Bermodez, mom Hermilina Bermodez, dad Isidro Bermodez, and sisters Florida and Leonora Bermodez and Estelle Fukushima.

He is survived by daughter Moana (Raymond) Callejo, son Chauncy (Jennifer) Bermodez, brother Justino (Myong Son) Bermodez, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life is Saturday, March 26, at Calvary Chapel Honolulu, on Komo Mai Drive, with visitation from 10 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire. Burial will be held on Monday, March 28, at 9:30 a.m. at Mililani Memorial Park.

Eddie Taniguchi III

Eddie Taniguchi III, 58, of Lihu‘e, passed away on March 10, 2022, at home. He was born in Waimea on Jan. 20, 1964, and retired as a propane truck driver at The Gas Company.

He was preceded in death by father Eddie Taniguchi Jr., brother George “Keoki” Taniguchi, and in-laws Robert Tadashi Yamauchi and Tomie Yamauchi.

He is survived by his wife Kris Yamauchi-Taniguchi, daughter Hokuka‘ano‘i Taniguchi, mother Eloise Taniguchi, brothers Roger (Lisa) Taniguchi and Manuel Taniguchi, sister Jasmine (Charlie) Taniguchi Kahepu‘u, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life is Saturday, March 26, at Niumalu Beach Park pavilion. Visiting with family will begin at 10 a.m. with services at 11 a.m.

The family requests all visitors wear mask, and welcomes flowers and lei.

Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gerardo Penalba Mararagan

Gerardo Penalba Mararagan passed away on March 7, 2022, at the age of 83, in Waimea. He was born on April 23, 1938, in Punungyan, Mendez, Cavite of the Philippines. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was also a logistics specialist at at the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands.

He was preceded in death by parents Candido and Maria Mararagan, brother Gavino Mararagan and sister Vincenta Mararagan.

He is survived by wife Perlita Mararagan, sons Mario (Julie) Mararagan of ‘Ele‘ele, Melvin (Joletta) Mararagan of Lawa‘i and Mark (Rachelle) Mararagan of Honolulu, grandchildren Jeivin (Megan) DeCosta-Mararagan, Jeianna (Chris) Iguchi, Jace, Jaime, Megan and Connor Mararagan, great-grandchildren Kaeton, KariMei, KeeliRae and Kaezen Iguchi, sister Apolinaria Amparo of California, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services are Saturday, March 26, at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha, with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers,

Nicholas ‘Niko’
‘Hooey’ T. Colacino

Nicholas “Niko” “Hooey” T. Colacino, of Koloa, passed away on March 7, 2022, at the age of 36. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Feb. 15, 1986. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from University of Santa Barbara. He was a server in the hospitality business.

He is survived by father Terry Colacino, mother Victoria Salce and brother Chris Colacino.

A celebration of life is scheduled for a later date.

Patrick James Rader

Patrick James Rader passed away on Feb. 22, 2022, at the age of 55, in Kekaha. He was born on July 29, 1966, in Santa Monica, California. He was a pilot.

He was preceded in death by father George Rader and mother Joyce O’Toole.

He is survived by wife Tracy Rader and sister Susi (Brad) Parkinson of Lawndale, California.
