Bernabe ‘Lino’ Laconsay Catbagan

Bernabe “Lino” Laconsay Catbagan passed away on Oct. 18, 2021, at home in Lubing, San Juan, La Union, Philippines, at the age of 98. He was born on June 11, 1923, in Lubing, San Juan, La Union, Philippines.

Lino was preceded in death by his wife Juana Catbagan.

Line is survived by his sons Mariano (Fely) Catbagan of Kapa‘a, Mamerto (Magdalena) Catbagan of Texas, Mario (Chanel) Catbagan of Kapa‘a, Maximo (Edna) Catbagan of Kapa‘a, Manuel (Marlene) Catbagan of Kapa‘a, daughters Magalina (Henry) Cabading of the Philippines, Marcela (Warlito) Canading of Honolulu, Elina (Ellen) Catbagan of Honolulu, Mila (Augusto) Sajonia of Kapa‘a, Mely (Arnold) Acosta of Kapa’a, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held in the Philippines

Daniel Tadashi Hashimoto

Daniel Tadashi Hashimoto, 72, of Kapa‘a, passed away at home with his dear friend Manima Leslee Dancosse by his side on Oct. 20, 2021. Born in Honolulu on Dec. 25, 1948, he was a Vietnam War Veteran with the United States National Guard and a hiking and tour guide photographer on Kaua‘i.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Shizuo Hashimoto and Gloria Elizabeth Tom Hashimoto.

Daniel is survived by his sisters Cynthia “Cindy” Swain of Kapa‘a, Pamela “Pohai” Daugherty of California, two nieces, one nephew, five grandnephews, one grandniece, numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Scattering of Daniel’s ashes will be private.

Kaua’i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ritchie Hosaka

Ritchie Hosaka passed away on Oct. 20, 2021, at the age of 66, in Waimea. He was born on April 16, 1955, in Honolulu. He worked for Sheraton Kaua‘i and the County of Kaua‘i.

Ritchie was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Barbara Hosaka, sister Dawn Hosaka and grandson Blaze Lopez.

Ritchie is survived by his wife Rose Hosaka, son James Hosaka of Honolulu, daughter Nancy Hosaka of Hilo, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brothers Shawn (Yvonne) Hosaka of Kekaha, Derek Hosaka of Lihu‘e, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
