Grace Namiko Yoon

Grace Namiko Yoon passed away on Aug. 29, 2022. She was born on Jan. 13, 1938, at Kealia Hospital. She was a self-employed preschool teacher, and later retired as an elementary-school teacher.

She was preceded in death by husband Edwin Yoon, brother Dennis Wakumoto, son Jarrett Yoon and Beaujolais.

She is survived by sister Jan Youth, daughter Shelagh Arruda, son Bryan (Liz Jenkins) Yoon, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and students.

Private services will be held at Punchbowl. Per her request, no koden (monetary gifts) or flowers.

Alan Shigeru Naito

Alan Shigeru Naito, 76, peacefully passed on Aug. 12, 2022, at his home in Cerritos, California, with family by his side. He was born on May 9, 1946, in Lihu‘e.

He was preceded in death by parents Shigeru and Yukie Naito and sister Kay Sachi Tracey.

He is survived by wife Rose, daughters Gale Bejo of Lihu‘e and June (Matthew Brill) of St. Louis, Missouri, sisters Janet Sakagawa of Kane‘ohe and Ethel (Melvin Kauahi) of Lawa‘i, and cherished grandchildren.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Dec. 3, 2022, in California.

Felicita Dela Cruz Salonson

Felicita Dela Cruz Salonson passed away on Aug. 20, 2022, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital, at the age of 83. She was born on Jan. 6, 1939, in the Philippines. She was an agricultural helper with Pioneer Hi-Bred International.

She was preceded in death by husband Fortunato Villanueva, parents Luis Valeriana Abraham and Pelagia Sagadraca Dela Cruz, sisters Melinia Villanueva and Erlinda Esquerra and brother-in-law Laurentino Villanueva.

She is survived by husband Herminigildo Salonson of Kekaha, son Novy (Remy) Villanueva of the Philippines, three grandchildren, one great-granchild, brothers Ernesto (Rebecca) Dela Cruz of San Francisco and Jose (Virginia) Dela Cruz of the Philippines, brother-in-law Benedicto Esquerra of the Philippines, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A service is Friday, Sept. 30, at the West Kaua‘i United Methodist Church in Kekaha. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by service. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Judith David Irons

Judith David Irons passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by loved ones, on June 1, 2022. She was born on March 4, 1948, in California. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, teacher and friend.

She is survived by husband Joseph Conrad Clifford.

Her celebration of life is Friday, Sept. 30, at Lydgate Park’s main pavilion, beginning at 5 p.m.

Loretta ‘Lori’ Ellen Ventura

Loretta “Lori” Ellen Ventura, 84, passed away on Sept. 10, 2022, in Huntington Beach, California. She was born on May 26, 1938, in Koloa. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by parents Wallace and Caroline Clement Ah Nee (Fujita).

She is survived by husband Bill, children Greg (Jackie), Tambi (Gregg), Karlyne (Mike), Chris (Flor), Kym, Tiffany, Tiare (Mike), Todd (Joanna) and Jon (Denise), brother Bob (Lu), sister Lani (Jack), 30 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.

A service is Saturday, Sept. 24, at St. Bonaventure Church in Huntington Beach, with the rosary at 9:30 a.m. and services at 10 a.m. followed by a celebration of life in the parish hall. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26. The family requests aloha attire.
