Moses Lopez

Moses Lopez, 89, passed away on Dec. 1, 2018. Born on Feb. 5, 1929, he was a retired heavy equipment operator and served in the U.S. Army.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Lopez; son, Maurice Lopez.

He is survived by his daughters, Doreen (Buz) Vasper of Honolulu, Arlene (Tony) Caday of Kalaheo; grandchildren, Larissa (Matt) Morgan, Marissa (Todd) Pickering, Brandee (Dave) Abreu, Alika (Chella) Vasper, Giselle (Brennen) Bucao, Joslyn (Kahonu) Wong; great-grandchildren, Brayden Abreu, Taira Abreu, Jake Pickering, Keenan Texeira, Haylee Pickering, Kysen Bucao, AJ Vasper, Koa Wong, Eli Vasper, Keanu Wong, Jackson Morgan, Brensen Bucao; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai from 9 a.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. The family suggests casual attire.

Barbra A.Y. Hataishi

Barbra A.Y. Hataishi, 85, of Kalaheo, passed away on Dec. 14, 2018. Born on June 30, 1933, in Koloa, she was a retired secretary with McBryde Sugar Company.

She is survived by her husband, Valentine Hataishi of Kalaheo; sisters, Janet Gerboc of Honolulu, Amy Haud of Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services to be held at a later date. Family requerts no Koden.

Stanwood Haruto Kanna

Stanwood Haruto Kanna, 61, of Kalaheo, passed away on Dec. 13, 2018, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. Born on March 20, 1957, in Waimea, Stanwood was a dentist.

He is preceded in death by his father, George A. Kanna.

He is survived by his wife, Trish Kanna of Kalaheo; sons, Audie (Brook) Bernardino of Hanapepe, Matthew Kanna of Kalaheo; daughter, Audree (Jason Yoshida) Roman of Hanapepe; grandchildren, Ayden Bernardino, Jordyn Roman, Maddox Bernardino; mother, Carol Kanna; brothers, Robert (Nancy) Kanna of Hanapepe, George (Sharlyn) Kanna of Kalaheo; sisters, Crystal (Jeff) Egusa of Molokai, Lauren (Rick) Bundschuh of Koloa, Jacqueline (Ross Young) Kanna of Hanapepe, Holly (Steve) Araki of Mililani; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018,at Hanapepe United Church of Christ from 8 to 9:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Elaine Nobuko Hirano

Elaine Nobuko Hirano, 90, of Eleele, passed away on Nov. 23, 2018. Born on May 20, 1928, in Kapaa, she was a registered nurse at Kuakini Hospital & Health Aide for Kalaheo and Hanalei Elementary School.

She is preceded in death by father, Hajime Tanaka; mother, Isayo Nakamura; husband, Dr. Ben Hirano; daughter, Ginny Shye Hirano; sister, Alice Saito.

She is survived by her sons, Scott (Kathy) Hirano of Oahu, Hall Hirano of Oahu, Timmy (Lisa) Hirano of Kauai; granddaughter, Julia Hirano; brothers, Abe (Ani) Tanaka of Oahu, Gilbert (Fumi) Tanaka of Kauai; sister, Bernie Kashiwai of Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018.

Linda Lee Dele Fortrie

Linda Lee Dele Fortrie, 75, of Kekaha, passed away on Dec. 17, 2018, at her home in Kekaha. Born on Feb. 7, 1943, in Los Angles, Calif., she was a jewelry shop owner & rental property owner.

She is survived by her husband, Jean Raymond Dele Fortrie of Kekaha; sons, Martin Robideau of Calif., Cole Robideau of Fla.; daughters, Barbara (Alan) Varner of N.M., Robin (Jay) McIlwee of Calif., Nowel (You) Robideau of N.M.; grandchildren, Jason McIlwee, Maxwell McIlwee, Truman Robideau, Katie Varner, Nicholas Robideau; brothers, Lani Morrell of Texas, Bo Morrell of Texas, Billy Ray Morrell of Texas; sister, Barbara Morrell of Calif.; niece, Jessica Leman.

Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at Waimea Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Family suggests casual attire.

Jezlene Macadangdang Rualizo

Jezlene Macadangdang Rualizo, 15, of Lihue, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Nov. 24, 2018, at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. She was born on March 19, 2003, in Lihue and was a student at Kauai High School.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Emiliano Macadangdang.

She is survived by her parents, Jessie Barit Rualizo, Lina Macadangdang Rualizo of Lihue; grandparents, Vicente and Estrellita Rualizo of Lihue, Estrella Macadangdang of Koloa; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. There will be a burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. The family requests casual attire.
