Escolastico ‘Koy’ Mira
Escolastico “Koy” Mira passed away on Jan. 19, 2021, at the age of 91.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1929 in Kalaheo. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1989 and dedicated 28 years to the Hawai‘i Air National Guard.
He was preceded in death by wife Rita Dannog Mira, daughter Celeste Gitzen, parents Victor and Ceferina Mira, and brothers Aurelio “Allen” Mira, Zoilo “Tony”Mira and Pedro “Pete” Mira.
He is survived by son Terence (Debbie) Mira of Arizona, daughter Rita Gemma (Clyde) Souza of Kalaheo, grandchildren James Mira, Lance Mira, Jayleen Miira, Megan Souza and Clyde Souza Jr., great-grandchildren Kaylee and Liam Mira, sister Lucy (Alfred) Alao of Lihu‘e, and by numerous nieces & nephews.
A celebration of life is Friday, Feb. 26, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.

Dr. Richard Tadashi Haruki
Dr. Richard Tadashi Haruki passed away in Lihu‘e on Feb. 15, 2021, at the age of 88. He was born on Nov. 18, 1932, in Kealia. He was the youngest of nine siblings.
He graduated from Washington University School of Dental Medicine and practiced dentistry for 40 years. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and ceramist. He continued ceramics long into his retirement.
He was preceded in death by parents Matsuzo and Tsurue Haruki, siblings Sadako Shimabukuro, Hiroshi Haruki, Hisayo Nakamura, Momoyo Moribe, Tokiyo Arita, Julia Suzuki, Sumie Haruki and Yoshie Kodama.
He is survived by wife Jane Haruki of Wailua, daughter Michele (Alan Iwasaki) Haruki of Lihu‘e, sons Dr. Craig Haruki of Lihu‘e and Dr. Todd (Susan) Haruki of Honolulu, grandchildren Bradley Fujiuchi, Alyssa Fujiuchi, Jordan Haruki, Lexi Haruki, Brandon Haruki and Caroline Haruki, sister-in-law Barbara Haruki of Wailua, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Angel Alayvilla
Angel Alayvilla of Escondido, California, passed away at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido on Jan. 30, 2021, at the age of 76.
Born on May 9, 1944 in Lapog, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a senior accountant at Green Horizons Landscape and Maintenance, Inc. and served in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by parents Rufino and Juliana Alayvilla, and brothers Orencio, Raymond Nito and Wayne Alayvilla.
He is survived by wife of 17 years Monica Louis-Alayvilla, daughters Andrea (Keone) Kelly and Angela (Amoie) Alayvilla, sons Aaron (Shana) Alayvilla and Austin (Brandie) Kekoa of California, stepdaughters Monalei (Punohu) Amulacion and Shana (Frank) Cruz of Kaua‘i, 21 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, siblings Teresita (Revelino Sr.) Tacsiat, Ben (Norma) Alayvilla, Remy (Edward) Chinen, Domi (Carol) Alayvilla, Lolita (Russell Sr.) Fernandes, Priscilla (Michael) Kano, Nancy (Joseph) Fontanilla, David Efren Alayvilla, Josie (Serafin Jr.) Galvez and Wilfred Alayvilla, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Saturday, March 6, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with Mass at 10 a.m. Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are required and will be coordinated by the staff of Immaculate Conception Church Bereavement Ministry.
Consuelo ‘Connie’ Marie Badua Pumaras Nadarisay
Consuelo “Connie” Marie Badua Pumaras Nadarisay, 72, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Feb. 3, 2021.
Mom was born on March 20, 1948, in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, and retired from the state of Hawai‘i Judiciary.
She is survived by children Chrysanthemum Erorita and Edison Erorita.
We will be celebrating mom’s life at a later date and will make the announcement once the date is determined.
Henry Kamakaokalani Kanahele
Henry Kamakaokalani Kanahele passed away on Feb. 11, 2021, at the age of 71.
He was born on Feb. 1, 1950, in Pu‘uwai, Ni‘ihau. He was a ranch hand on Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by wife Viglant Wailama‘akealoha Kanahele and parents Henry Waiola Kanahele and Eliza Kananipauole Kanahele.
He is survived by sons Jake K. Kaohelauli‘i of Kekaha and Bryce-John Nali‘i Kaohelauli‘i of Kekaha, daughters Nani Jean (Michael) DeMotta of Hanapepe, Tiana Kanahele of Kaumakani, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Joseph Aipolani (Sharon) Kanahele of Kekaha, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A walk-thru visitation is at Garden Island Mortuary on Thursday, Feb. 25, from 9 to 11 a.m. Final viewing and closing prayer is at 11 a.m.
The family suggests aloha attire. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.

Josefina L. Queypo
The world lost a beloved mother and grandmom, Josefina L. Queypo, on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021.
Our dear mom battled pancreatic cancer, but it never stopped her from doing what she loved and from being generous and supportive to everyone. She was a strong woman who devoted her life to raising her children, Emily, Eva and Emeterio IV all by herself. Our dear mother died in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Our mom worked so hard so she could provide for her family. Her colleagues knew her as a kind soul, always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. She was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Aug. 7, 1948.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by parents Fidel and Norberta Queypo.
Friends are invited to say a final goodbye at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Lihu‘e on Wednesday, March 3, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Michael Cockett
Michael Cockett of Lihu‘e passed away at 78 years old on Feb. 18, 2021.
He was an insurance agent with Punua Insurance Co.
He was preceded in death by parents Patrick and Clella Cockett.
He is survived by wife Donna Lee Cockett, daughter Kelly Jones, brother Patrick Cockett, sisters-in-law Annette Figuered, Margo Baker, Linda Schweitzer and Susann Joslyn, brother-in-law James Gomes, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and grandchildren Kiana Jones and Holden Jones.

Kay Fujiko Aalto
Kay Fujiko Aalto of Rock, Michigan, passed away on Feb. 1, 2021, at the age of 79. She graduated from Waimea High School in 1959, then attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette, graduating with a degree in education.
She was preceded in death by parents Kiyoshi Moriguchi and Lily Moriguchi.
She is survived by husband Mike Aalto, daughter Pamela Aalto, son Mikko Aalto, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister Joyce (Raymond) Morikawa, and brothers Gene (Carol) Moriguchi and Myles (Vicki) Moriguchi.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Matthew Ethan King Bisarra
Matthew Ethan King Bisarra was born on March 2, 2002, and went to be with our Lord on Feb. 13, 2021. He was a very smart and vibrant young man. He loved computers, technology, cooking, video games, playing guitar, paintball and skateboarding.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents Victor Wingle of Glendale, Arizona and Cleo and James King of Washington.
He is survived by parents Pedro Bisarra Jr. of Mesa, Arizona and Stephanie King of Sierra Vista, Arizona, brother Nathan Bisarra of Kekaha, grandparents Laura and Tony King of Kekaha, Leonida and Pedro Bisarra of Kekaha, great-grandmother Janet Wingler of Glendale, Arizona, aunties and uncles Trisha (King) and Billy Plante, of Mesa, Arizona, Leonila and John Jensen of Kekaha and Evi and Alex Bisarra of Fargo, North Dakoda, cousins Maribel and James Plante of Mesa, Arizona, Joshua Bisarra, Jordan Bisarra and Nichols Bisarra of Fargo, North Dakota, Maeve Jensen of Kekaha, and numerous great-aunties, great-uncles and cousins.
Services were held at Chapel of The Chimes Mortuary in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday, Feb. 21.
He will be greatly missed and will be carried in the hearts of many. We love you son and brother; mom, dad and Nathan.
