William ‘Whitey’ Pascua

William “Whitey” Pascua, 85, of Koloa, passed away on Dec. 13, 2018, at Garden Isle Healthcare. Born on May 21, 1933, in Kipu, he was a retired elections administrator and served in the U.S. Army.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Alipia Pascua; brother, George Pascua and sister, Rosalina Ganir.

He is survived by his wife, Marina Pascua of Koloa; son, Lono (Rose Marie) Pascua of Koloa; daughters, Lani (Jason) Kaui of Kapaa, Lei Pascua of Sacramento; grandchildren, Taryn Kaui, Mitchell Pascua-Parris; brother, Gemi (Priscilla) Pascua of Koloa; sisters, Leonora Pascua of Kapolei, Nina “Dolly” Pascua of Omao; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The eulogy will begin at 10 a.m. and Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Family requests casual attire. Luncheon and fellowship to follow after services.

Florence K. Tamura

Florence K. Tamura, 86, of Lihue, passed away on Jan. 10, 2019, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on Oct. 24, 1932, in Wahiawa, New Mill, she worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sakuji and Shizue Koga and brother, George Koga

She is survived by her husband, Robert Tamura of Lihue; son, Gordon (Lisa) Tamura of Lihue; daughters, Tammy Tamura of Lihue, Corliss (Robin) Shimabukuro of Lihue; grandchildren, Kaylee Tamura, Macy Tamura, Kalia Shimabukuro; brother, Robert (Yvonne) Koga of California; sisters, Margaret Makishi of Eleele, Mabel Konishi of Wailua; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Lihue Christian Church from 10 a.m. and services will be celebrated 11 a.m. Family requests casual attire and no flowers.

Fidel Baldonado

Fidel Baldonado, 88, of Kapaa, passed away on Jan. 13, 2018, at Wilcox Medical Center. Born on April 24, 1930, in Kealia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired patient medical assistant at Maluhia Hospital in Honolulu.

He enjoyed his retirement years as an avid traveler, loved visiting his family in Chicago and participated in many community events with his veteran friends. He loved Kachi Kachi music.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacinto and Macaria Baldonado and sister-in-law, Perlita Baldonado.

He is survived by brothers, Marcelo Baldonado, Alfredo (Ardelina) Baldonado, Benjamin (Laura) Baldonado. Beloved uncle to Rozelda Peterson, Gina Baldonado, Brad Baldonado and Mark Baldonado and great uncle to Juliet, Alex, Maya and Justin.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Jan. 24, at Borthwick Mortuary chapel in Koloa from 6 to 9 p.m., and again on Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Catherine Church in Kapaa from 9 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. The family suggests casual attire.

Dionis ‘Nicia’ Niniau Doronio Bernaldes McGihon

Dionis “Nicia” Niniau Doronio Bernaldes McGihon, 68, of Waimea Valley, passed away peacefully at Queens Medical Center on Dec. 20, 2018. Born on June 15, 1950, in Waimea, she was a retired school administrative assistant at Waimea High School and spent her retirement years joyfully serving as a Regular Pioneer with the Kekaha Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Predeceased by father, Dionicio Doronio; brothers, Carlos Doronio, Agapito Doronio Sr. and Stanywick Yadao.

She is survived by her husband, James Bernaldes McGihon of Waimea; son, Marcus “Kulani” (Ena) Bernaldes of Honolulu; daughters, Jacqueline Bernaldes of Waimea, Jamie “Loke” McGihon of Nanakuli, Joycelyn (Marc) Cobb-Adams of Honolulu; mother, Becky Niniau Kualu of Kekaha; hanai son, John “Kawika” Wilson of Kapaa; 8 grandchildren; brothers, Daniel Doronio of Keaau, Reuben (Agnes) Doronio of Kekaha; sisters, Amore Camara of Hanapepe, Nora (Cippy) Ragocos of Kekaha, Becky “Honey Bea”(Joseph) Noon of Kentucky; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center Lawn. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. with services to begin at 10:30 a.m. The family suggests aloha attire.

Miyuki Maehata

Miyuki Maehata, 96, of Kapaa, passed away on Jan. 10, 2019. She was born in Lihue on Oct. 29, 1922, and worked as a cook at Fairway Restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Masaharu Maehata; daughter, Yumiko Johnson; sister, Haruko Francisco; brothers, Ismo and Yoshi Matsuyama.

Miyuki is survived by her son, Mark Maehata; daughters, Lisa M. Nakamura, Kay Mizumoto; 5 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Kapaa Hongwanji Mission on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, with services beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Toshie Fujita Matsunaga

Toshie Fujita Matsunaga, 87, of Lawai, passed away on Jan. 2, 2019, at Kauai Care Center in Waimea. Born on Nov. 16, 1931, she retired from Kauai Poultry Farm in 1981 and Kukuiula Store in 1984.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Masajiro and Yorino (Kodama) Fujita; brothers, Masato Fujita, Masaru Fujita, Hitoshi Fujita and granddaughter, Diane Kawakami.

She is survived by husband, James Matsunaga of Lawai; sons, Wesley Matsunaga, Glenn (Delcie) Matsunaga, Jay (Mindy) Matsunaga; daughter, Linda (Galen) Kawakami, all of Lawai; brother, Ernest Shigeo (Olaf) Fujita of Waimea; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Jan. 25, 2019, at the Hanapepe Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and services to follow at 2 p.m. Family requests casual attire and no flowers.

Roberto Damo Badua

Roberto Damo Badua, 85, of Eleele, passed away on Jan. 12, 2019, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. Born on June 7, 1933, in San Nicolas, Illocos Norte, Philippines, Roberto was a mill operator/seed cutter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Atilana Badua; brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Benita Badua of Eleele; sons, Nathaniel (Cornelia) Badua of Lihue, Moises Badua of Eleele, Rex (Jenneen) Badua of Kekaha, Robert (Jolynn) Badua of Kekaha; daughter, Janet (Jose) Rebollar of California; grandchildren, Nathalie, Nicholas, Nikki, Jaliyah, Maiyah, Kaiyahni, Rhyese, Jesse; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai from 9 a.m. and services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. There will be a burial to follow at Hanapepe public cemetery. Family requests casual attire.

David Wayne Ibsen

David Wayne Ibsen, 54, of Kapaa, passed away on Dec. 19, 2018. He was born in Washington on July 12, 1964 and was a self-employed electrician.

Preceded in death by his father, Gerald W. Ibsen.

David is survived by his fiancé, the love of his life, Rose Holthaus; son, Daniel Ibsen; mother, Janet Skidmore; brothers, Ken (Anna) Ibsen, Dean Ibsen; hanai children, Susan Woods and her children, Natalie Audrey and Sophia; Jennifer (Edward) Carpenter and children, Isaac, Aaron, Aydan, Teagan, Kaiya; Christopher Holthaus; hanai sisters and brothers, Alfred and Heide Lardizabal, Sonya (Jess) Quel-Lardizabal and children, Ashley and Maraih; Persian Lardizabal; daughter, Kaileen; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at Lydgate Park, pass big pavilion at end of parking lot from 11 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Mark Adam Dizol

Mark Adam Dizol, 54, of Kalaheo, passed away on Jan. 12, 2019, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on Feb. 17, 1964, in Portland, Maine, Mark retired from the U.S. Army

He is preceded in death by his father, Fernando Dizol; mother, Shirley A. Ancheta; brother, Alan Dizol, Sr.; sisters, Elizabeth Dizol and Selina Dizol Galvan.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Dizol of Washington; daughter, Pualani Makamae Dizol of Fort Collins, CO; mother, Zina Dizol; brothers, Fernando “Sonny” (Francine) Dizol, III, Kauai, James (Zenaida) Dizol of Koloa, Kekoa (Delia) Dizol, Koloa; sisters, Vicki Dizol Mostofo of Colorado Springs, CO, Kawailani (Bruce) Newport-Kilauano of Kekaha, Raylene “Sissy” Kahale of Koloa, Leonora Dizol Kai’aokamalie of Lawai, Andra Ota of Lihue; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at Garden Island Mortuary chapel in Lawai from 1 p.m. and services will be celebrated at 3 p.m.

Final resting will be at Kauai Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Family requests casual attire and no flowers.

Kathleen Reale

Kathleen Reale, 77, of Kapaa, passed away on Jan.14, 2019. She was born in Payson, Utah on Dec. 14, 1941, and worked as a waitress at The Outback Steakhouse in Marin County.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; Carl Wilson Street, Zella Peterson and sister, Sherry Cox.

She is survived by her sisters; Judy (Giles) Parker and Lynda (Kelly) Allred; daughter, Kelly Kaona; son, Jason Reale; grandchildren, Trevor Kaona, Kyle Kaona, Katelyn (Brentten) Rapozo; great-grandchildren, Audrey Kaona-Sarsona, Bailey Kaona-Rapozo and Brextten Kaona-Rapozo.
