Florencio ‘Flo’ Espinosa Jr.
Florencio “Flo” Espinosa Jr., 49, of Anahola, passed away on Dec. 20, 2020, at Wilcox Medical Center. He was born on March 26, 1971, in Honolulu, and worked at Westin Princeville as a maintenance engineer.
He was preceded in death by father Florencio Espinosa Sr.
He is survived by wife Jlyn Espinosa, children Charren Ornellas, Florencio (Ruthanne) Espinosa III, Chasity Espinosa, Kassandra Espinosa and Kylee Espinosa, mother Madeline Espinosa, siblings Mercy Nuesca, Marla (Michael) Alonzo, Monica (Wyl) Maycong and Floyd (Arely) Espinosa, and six grandchildren.
Private services will be held by the family.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Alika S. Aguiar
Alika S. Aguiar passed away on Dec. 27, 2020, at the age of 49, in Waimea. He was born on May 19, 1971, in Honolulu, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather Edwin M. Aguiar, uncle Robert Aguiar, and maternal grandparents Reynolds and Lehua Horswill.
He is survived by parents Anthony and Renee Aguiar, brothers Ikaika E. Aguiar of Waimea, Kaimi Ike A. (Jan) Aguiar of O‘ahu, Keali‘i A. (Kisha) Aguiar of Kekaha and Iolana (Sara) Aguiar of Utah, sisters Kimberly K. (Anna) Aguiar of Florida and Star K. Aguiar of Kekaha, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are pending due to COVID-19 social distancing and masking.
Burial will occur at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. COVID-19 rules apply, and social distancing and masks are required. A limited amount of people, 10 each, will be allowed at the burial site for 10 minutes.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
James ‘Kunz’ Vernon Kunane Ka‘auwai
James “Kunz” Vernon Kunane Ka‘auwai, 57, of Kapa‘a, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Dec. 24, 2020. He was born in Lihu‘e on Nov. 25, 1963, and worked as a heavy-equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by granddaughter Kayla Ka‘auwai, grandparents Kaluna Ka‘auwai and Daisy Contrades Ka‘auwai, and mother-in-law Alice Oliveira.
He is survived by wife Kehaulani Ka‘auwai of Kapa‘a, mother Annette Ku‘uipoaloha Ka‘auwai of Anahola, children shared with Elizabeth Ho‘oikaika, sons James Kekoalauli‘i Ho‘oikaika of Anahola and Byron Keala Ka‘auwai-Ho‘oikaika of Honolulu, daughters Jaimelyn Ka‘auwai-Ho‘oikaika of Anahola, Seanne Ka‘auwai-Ho‘oikaika of Anahola, hanai son Jonathan Mahoe Poe-Ho‘oikaika of Anahola, younger children shared with Kehaulani Ka‘auwai, sons Landon Demello-Oliveira of Kapa‘a, Tyler Ka‘auwai of Anahola, Tryten Ka‘auwai of Kapa‘a, and daughter Shaylen Demello-Oliveira of Koloa, brothers Ross Teraoka of Kapa‘a and Arthur (Meagan) Rice of Kalaheo, sister Laurinette Masako (Eric) Fujimoto of Hanama‘ulu, brothers-in-law Troy (Kaui) Oliveira of Waikoloa and Kaohu Oliveira of Hilo, father-in-law James (Mercy) Oliveira of Hilo, grandchildren Bryden, Brysen, Branden, Bronsen, Lilinoe and Kailee Ka‘auwai, Leianaokekai Poe-Ho‘oikaika, Kaleb Lemalu, Ayden Lopes, Kapua Yamamoto and Ace-Lawai‘a Ka‘auwai, and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
