Elpidio ‘Pat’ Aquino
Elpidio “Pat” Aquino passed away peacefully on July 8, 2020, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 94. Elpidio was a print press operator for Garden Island Publishing and later Printing Services Corporation where he retired.
Elpidio was born in Koloa, Kauai on Jan. 28, 1926.
Elpidio was preceded in death by parents M. Quirino Aquino and Clara Unday Aquino. Also preceded by sons Timothy Aquino, Dominic Aquino and grandson Shaun Angel Aquino, brothers Benjamin, Wenceslao “Winky”, and Rudy, sisters Fely Begonia, Trinidad Pagador and Katherine Lavilla.
Elpidio is survived by his wife of 64 years Elizabeth Remata Aquino, son Myles (Darnell) Aquino, daughters Celeste (Edgar) Rivera and Wanda (Michael) Lazaro, daughter-in-law Lorlina Aquino, 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Also survived by brothers Demetrio “Don” Aquino and Dennis (Anita) Aquino, sisters Mercy (David) Remata, Nadia (Pablo) Sarmiento, Dinah (Wally) Tavares, numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service including family visitation and a Catholic service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Garden Island Mortuary. Burial to follow 1 p.m. at the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, masks are mandatory and social distancing is required.

Darren Tamotsu Wakano
Darren Tamotsu Wakano passed away July 14, 2020, at the age of 54 at his residence. He was born on Aug. 11, 1965. in Honolulu. He was a building and house painter.
Darren was preceded in death by father Lawrence Masaru Wakano, mother Jean Aiko Wakano.
Darren is survived by wife Naomi Wakano, son Dylan (Jeizel Cadiz) Wakano of Lihue, daughter Lacey (Brayden Rasay) Wakano of Lihue, father and mother-in-law Tsutao and Harriet Morioka, brother Mitch (Jim Goodenough) Wakano of Florida, brother-in-law Danny (Julie) Morioka of Kapaa, sister Laurie Babtkis-Wakano of California, sister-in-law Mae (Darin) Asato of Virginia, step mother Elenor Wakano and family, hanai family Mark, Karen and Kellie Joto, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services to be held at a later date.

Colleen Mie Yamase
Colleen Mie Yamase passed away on July 13, 2020, at the age of 64 in Lihue. She was born on Sept. 11, 1955, in Waimea. She was an Accountant at KVMH.
Colleen is survived by husband Brian K. Yamase, sons Davin (Roxanne) Yamase of Kalaheo, Scott K. Yamase of Eleele, Troy (Shawna) Yamase of Eleele, grandchildren Wyatt Vinhasa, Tayden Yamase, Xaidyn Yamase, Keatyn Yamase, Shay Yamase, Easton Yamase, parents Miyoshi “Boxer” Matsuda and Madeline Matsuda, sisters Valerie Matsumoto (Les) of Paia, Maui, Renee Kanekuni (Daniel) of Ewa Beach, Oahu, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Talk story at Garden Island Mortuary on Aug. 1, 2020, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to begin at 4 p.m. Mask required. Family suggests casual attire.

Epifanio Butay Damaso
Epifanio Butay Damaso passed away at the age of 75, on July 12, 2020, at Wilcox Memorial Center. He was born on June 5, 1945, in the Philippines. He was a field worker with Global.
Epifanio was preceded in death by son Edelwyn Damaso, father Frederico Damaso, mother Paula Damaso, sister Marcelina Damaso.
Epifanio is survived by wife Lydia Damaso of Hanamaulu, daughters Elizabeth (Darwin) Verdadero of the Philippines, Marites Damaso of Lihue, grandchildren Dezerie Verdadero, Dianne Verdadero, brothers Rustico (Marievic Cabigting) Damaso of Lihue, Elmerante (Nena) Damaso of Kona, Gamaliel (Margie) Damaso of Kona, Bernabe (Trina) Damaso of Lihue, sisters Susana (Rolly ) Bulo of the Philippines, Euprecina (Arsenio) Garcia of the Philippines, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard Henry Tiede
Richard Henry Tiede, 79, of Princeville, passed away after a battle with cancer, on July 10, 2020. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on Dec. 13, 1941, to Walter William Tiede and Virginia (Kirstein) Tiede. He was a mechanical engineer.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Bracey Avery Tiede, his niece Carole Tiede Gillespie, and his sister-in-law Mary Avery Hill.
Richard is survived by his brother Thomas Tiede (Pamela), nephew Thomas Tiede Jr. (Lee Ann), grand-nephew Mathew Tiede (Craig Deardorff), grand-niece Kirstin Tiede Sullivan (Patrick), great-grand-nephew Theo Declan Sullivan, brother-in-law James Hill.
Richard will be remembered as a very gentle and courteous man who was ready to help others, and he always had a smile when meeting you.
Dolores ‘Dolly’ Gabriel Mandap
Dolores “Dolly” Gabriel Mandap, 84, of Mililani peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 5, 2020.
She was a mainstay in the hospitality and restaurant industries for 25+ years. Her beautiful smile and heart of aloha always made patrons- locals and visitors alike – feel so welcomed. Everywhere she went, she made fast friends. After retiring, she became an active member of her church – she cooked, cleaned, worked at carnivals, supported fundraisers, etc. However, of her many roles and accomplishments, she was most proud of being a devoted mother to her six children and a loving grandmother to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. All of whom miss her more than words can say.
She was preceded in death by her father Felix Gabriel, mother Timotea Deboma, son Aaron Gabriel Cummings, and grandchildren Ka`iulani Cummings; Kyle, Pa`ana`akala and Shiloh Aiu.
She is survived by husband Robert (“Bob”), sons Abraham (Carol) Cummings and Willie Cummings, daughters Rinda (Kappy) Aiu, Mamo (Max) Cummings Graham, and Koki Cummings, grandchildren Gabriel, Kanoe, Dee Dee, Kawailele, Michael, Dan, Tim, Angel, Daron, Ka`ili, Momi, Luke and Hunter; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and one great, great-grandchild.
A Private Mass will be held.

Fusako Higa Tamashiro
Fusako Higa Tamashiro, 90, of Kapa‘a, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 4, 2020. She was born in Kapa‘a, on Nov. 29, 1929, and retired from Kapa‘a Big Save.
Fusako was preceded in death by her husband Choye “Johnny” Tamashiro, parents Kenji and Kama Higa, brothers Shigeo Higa, Jenkichi Higa and Tsutomu “Tom” Higa.
Fusako is survived by sister Kimiye Higa Koide, brothers Toshio (Jeane) Higa, Richard (Jane) Higa, Kenneth (Amy) Higa, sons Jonathan (Lisa) Tamashiro, Nelson (Soncy) Tamashiro, grandchildren Joanna Tamashiro, Melissa (Elijah) Cole, Noe (Zak) Nolte, Kawehi Tamashiro, great-granddaughter Sydney Cole, nieces and nephews.
Private services were held on July 25, 2020, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home and Kaua‘i Veterans Services assisted the family with arrangements.
Elenora Reichert
Elenora Reichert, 100, of Kapaa passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2020. She was born in Dickinson, ND on August 27, 1919, and married Jacob in 1938. They owned and operated a dairy farm near Dickinson until moving to northern CA in 1946 where they continued farming. Quite a few years and a few moves later, Elenora relocated to San Francisco where she worked as a bookkeeper at Toolmaster Inc., retiring from there at age 80, then moving to Kauai
Ever considerate of others, Elenora was a devoted, hard-working person, a loving mother, beloved big sister to Agnes, and a faithful friend. Family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances were all touched by her kind and thoughtful spirit.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Christian & Julianna Miller; former husband, Jacob Reichert; sister, Eva Schloss and brothers, Leo, Alex and Frank Miller.
Elenora is survived by her son, Kenneth (Marta) Reichert; daughter, Sister Carol Reichert (Sisters of the Holy Family); sister Agnes Flynn; 1 grandson, Nicholas, 3 great-grandchildren, Michael, Emma, and Daniel, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa on Saturday August 1, 2020. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM and services will start at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Kealia Cemetery.
