Alperica Galiza Ramento

Alperica Galiza Ramento, 66, of Puhi, passed away at home on April 20, 2022. She was born in Tumauini, Isabela, Philippines, on Jan. 17, 1956, and retired after working 25 years from the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort as a chambermaid.

She was always full of energy and love. She would spend her time crocheting and giving her finished work to her family and friends.

She enjoyed morning walks at Kaua‘i Lagoons, watching the sunrise at Nawiliwili Harbor with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren and reading the Bible.

She was preceded in death by father Pedro Galiza Sr., siblings Maria Galiza, Delia Galiza and Jose Galiza and niece Jeri Ann Galiza.

She is survived by husband Florencio Ramento, son Shaun Ramento, daughter Karen Ramento, mother Rosita Galiza, grandchildren Kolten Gipolan and Ares Gipolan, siblings Wilmer (Emely) Galiza, Jel “Lito” Galiza, Renato (Marijean) Galiza, Imelda (Gualberto) Honorato, Pedro (Jessica) Galiza Jr. and Divina (Gerald) Rapozo, and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life is Saturday, May 7, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Leonard Esona Sr.

Leonard Esona Sr., 75, of Las Vegas, passed away at the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center on Jan. 16, 2021. He was born on April 15, 1945, in Waimea. He was employed and retired as a supervisor for Lihue Plantation. After his retirement he moved to Las Vegas.

He proudly served his time in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, outdoor activities such as fishing, swimming and gardening, and he was the family barbecue master.

He was preceded in death by parents Leoncio Esona and Isabello and Hilda (Bansole) Arcangel, brother Owen S. Esona, sister Cybil L. Esona, brother-in-law Ralph Remigio and son-in-law Lionel E.K. Gonsalves.

He is survived by his wife Yolanda Esona of 46 years, daughters Cesili Gonsalves of Lihu‘e, Nicole (Kenneth) Carvalho of Kekaha, Shan (Charlan Mano‘i) Esona of Las Vegas and Kabbie (Aaron) Koshan of Las Vegas, son Leonard Esona Jr. of Las Vegas, hanai son Shea (Lauren) Montgomery, children Shaiann Montgomery, Malakai Montgomery, Morgan Bolton and Makenna Montgomery of Lihu‘e, grandchildren Bryson (Kaira Kupihea) Gonsalves, Alexis Youn-Esona, Trinity Koshan, Kailah Esona, Brianni Higashi, Kiana Carvalho, Sanoe Carvalho, Reef Carvalho, Justin Bonachita-Esona, Cyann Akaji, Kanan Akaji, Diesel Mano‘i, Keli‘i Esona, Kaylee Esona, Kai Esona and Kaleb Esona, great-grandchildren Ayva Marie and Ayden Brock Gonsalves, his loyal and loving furry companion Elu, brothers Steven (Edna) Esona of Wahiawa, O‘ahu and Alvin (Agatha) Esona of Waipahu, O‘ahu, mother-in-law Consuelo Remigio of Kapa‘a, sister-in-laws Gloria (Dennis) Bonilla of ‘Oma‘o, Lorna Navarro of Lihu‘e, brother-in-law Gary (Jennifer) Remigio of Lihu‘e, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

His celebration of life is at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e Saturday, May 14, with visitation starting at 9 a.m., services starting at 9:30 a.m., brunch at 10 a.m., and burial at 1 p.m. at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.

The family suggests aloha or casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Virginia ‘Linda’ Nicolas Cadiam

Virginia “Linda” Nicolas Cadiam passed away on March 28, 2022, at the age of 82. Born Nov. 18, 1939, on O‘ahu, she was a courtesy clerk at Koloa Big Save.

She was preceded in death by parents Guillermo and Luciana Tacderan, sisters Helen Nono and Bernie Bueno, and brothers Francisco Polintan, Arthur Tacderan and Ernest Tacderan.

She is survived by husband Mauricio Cadiam, sons Marvin (Lori) Cadiam and Brian (Deann Ferreira) Cadiam, daughter Reyne (David Kamakea) Cadiam, sisters Francis Gadingan, Clara Visitacion, Dolly Recopilation, Maggie Bermudes, Kathleen Arucan and Marilyn Salas, grandchildren Kylen (Chanelle) Cadiam, Kyson Cadiam, Makaylin (Brock Ephan) Jardin, Malyssalin Jardin and Meigan Jardin, great-grandchildren Chance Cadiam and Chaylen Cadiam, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A private celebration of life will be held.

Ronald ‘Squeaky’ Keli‘i Kealoha Sr.

Ronald “Squeaky” Keli‘i Kealoha Sr. passed away on March 26, 2022, at the age of 74. He was born on Jan. 27, 1948, in Lihu‘e. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army and a retired firefighter with the Kaua‘i Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by parents Robert Kealoha Sr. and Rose (Kua) Kealoha, brother Robert Kealoha Jr. and sister Irene Kealoha.

He is survived by wife Elaine M. Kealoha, sons Ronald Keli‘i Kealoha Jr. and Douglas (Malama) Kaina Kealoha, daughter Rose (Dewey Henderson) Napua Kealoha, 11 grandchildren, sisters Fannie (Damien) Gonsalves, Ululani (Marvin) Ho‘okano and Helen (William) K. Brede, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life is Saturday, May 14, at Niumalu Beach Park pavilion from noon until pau.

Shandra Janel Divina Salud

Shandra Janel Divina Salud, 51, of Lihu‘e, passed away on April 28, 2022, at Wilcox Medical Center. She was born in Lihu‘e on Nov. 1, 1970, and was a front desk supervisor at the Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort Lihu‘e.

She was preceded in death by father Anthony Divina and brother Matthew Divina.

She is survived by husband Rudy Salud, daughter Gabrielle Salud, mother Felicidad Ramelb Divina, sister Toni Divina (Butch) Keahiolalo, and nieces Sailor and Liliwai Keahiolalo.

A celebration of life is Wednesday, May 11, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation at 9 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Mitsue Hirata

Mitsue Hirata, of Kapa‘a, passed away at the age of 100, on April 25, 2022, in ‘Oma‘o. She was born on Dec. 7, 1921, in Lihu‘e. She worked in the food service industry.

She was preceded in death by parents Denshi and Toyoka Mizumura, husband Yoneo Hirata, brother Hisao Mizumura, and sisters Hatsue Mizumura, Tomoe Seki and Shizue Fujioka.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts).
