Khaliah-Shay Kaulana Rapozo
Khaliah-Shay Kaulana Rapozo, 29, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020, at Straub Hospital in Honolulu.
She was born on Jan. 2, 1991, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, and was a graduate of Kaua‘i High in 2009 through the state Department of Education’s Home Hospital Instruction Program. She had a beautiful heart like no other, with an amazing, kind soul. She did everything with love, and inspired many lives with her strength, endurance, determination, can-do attitudeand infectious smile. All who knew her were considered friends, as she would not hesitate to help others or extend a kind gesture. She was the epitome of love, compassion, and true humanity. She redefined the meaning of “daughter,” encapsulating all the qualities any parent could ever hope for in a child and more. She loved her mom and dad unconditionally and completely.
As such, she had many passions and interests. One in particular that held a special place in her heart and enjoyed tremendously was participating as a camper at the annual Cancer Kids Camp held at Camp Anuenue on O‘ahu. She later returned as a counselor in training and volunteer, where her own personal experiences as once a new camper helped to better serve the young ones with understanding and compassion. Many also knew her as a gifted crafter who excelled in any sort of craftwork that caught her interest. She delighted in being a do-it-yourself enthusiast. Finally, her passion for cooking was the hallmark of her creative endeavors, often treating her family to exquisite and love-infused delicacies. Every dish was as meticulous as how she lived life, with a heart for others — always with a huge dash of love and care.
Many could live a lifetime never accomplishing their goals or purpose. But at the young age of 10, she made sure that one of great importance to her was achieved. She planned and organized delivering gift bags to all of the pediatric cancer kids at Kapi‘olani Hospital on O‘ahu, where she herself had once received treatment. She included a photo of herself, her story, and gift cards to various eateries. This small gesture resulted in huge smiles. This was her way of also fulfilling her heart’s desire to serve as a good role model for children, instilling in them good values such as compassion, respect, hard work and responsibility. She will continue to be a bright light and source of inspiration to all she has touched. Ultimately, her hope is that everyone would live a life full of peace and love and to remember that no matter what happens, to never lose faith.
Her family would like to thank the medical responders, Wilcox Medical Center, air ambulance and Straub Hospital ICU for their attention and care.
She is survived by father Curtis Rapozo , mother Valerie Gallardo, grandparents Mervin and Fay (Takabayashi) Rapozo and Carlos (deceased) and Magdalena Gallardo, aunts Crystal (LeRoi – deceased) Bethel (LeRoi deceased), Corinne Gallardo (Fabian) Mata, Kathleen (Robert) Medeiros and Candice Gallardo, uncles Stephen (Greta) Gallardo, Jeffrey (Nornette) Gallardo and Sandy (Shae) Gallardo, cousins Leevi, Brooks and Hunter Bethel, Enchante Gallardo, Dante Gallardo, Giselle Gallardo, Chauntel Nakata, Puna Gallardo, Jabryann (Keith) Krejc, Kendrah Gallardo, Caleb Gallardo, Nicole (Armando) Montalvo, Eric Medeiros, Adam Medeiros and Ashlee Gallardo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of love and scattering will be announced at a later date.
Charles Abraham Kahale Huddy
Charles Abraham Kahale Huddy, 77, passed away peacefully in Massachusetts, on April 14, 2020, after a short illness.
He was born in Kilauea to Abraham and Dorothy Chow Huddy and raised in Kapa‘a. He graduated from Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, Class of 1960. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he trained as a machinist and served in Germany. After being honorably discharged he moved to California, where he married Cynthia Tower in 1960.
They settled in Massachusetts, where they raised a family and he earned a bachelor’s degree from Bentley University. He used his training from the Army to work as a machinist in Massachusetts until his retirement in 2004.
He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Malden. He served in many capacities on various boards and committees as well as serving as treasurer for many years. He was always willing to lend a hand for any project or workday, always caring for the buildings and grounds in his spare time. He was a faithful member of the weekly Bible study group as well as volunteering with the church each month to prepare and serve a meal for those in need. For his dedication and faithful service, he was named “Layperson of the Year” in 2002.
Whenever he returned home to Kaua‘i, he enjoyed fishing, golfing and attending the family’s church in Anahola, Ko‘olauhui‘ia Protestant Church.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cynthia,sons Michael Huddy of Malden, Massachusetts, Douglas Huddy (Rachel) of Watertown, South Dakota, sister Anne Huddy Crawford of Texas, and brother Wendell K. Huddy of Honolulu.
A celebration of life service will be held on Kaua‘i at a date to be announced.

Gaal-Oshiro
Sandra Gaal-Oshiro of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed peacefully away at home on April 15, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was 73 years old.
A lifelong loving mother and registered nurse on Kaua‘i, she devoted much of her time taking care of others.
She survived by daughter Jade, son Wade and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Roy.
The family will share plans for future burial services at Olinger Chapel Hill in Colorado and Mililani Memorial Park in Hawai‘i.
