James Yamamoto Locquiao Sr.

James Yamamoto Locquiao Sr., of Kekaha, Kaua‘i, passed away at the age of 84 at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital. He was born in Makaweli, Kaua‘i, and retired as an Industrial Mechanic for the Kekaha Sugar Plantation. He spent his time on the West side of the island as a warm-hearted family man and was known as Mister Miyagi of Kekaha. Jimmy devoted time and all that he had to his family, and loves each and every one of them.

He was preceded in death by his parents Antipolo Locquiao and Yachiyo Yamamoto Locquiao.

James will be lovingly remembered by his wife Josefina and his children Cedric (Donald), Rosalind (Jason), James Jr. (Gernaline), Tricia, Vanessa (Irvin), April (Johnny), Anson (Margaret), Amber (Eric John), sisters Dolores and Nora, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Visitation with the family will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with services to follow afterwards from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The family requests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.

Inocencio ‘Joe’ ‘Jose’ Sagisi Alcaraz

Inocencio “Joe” “Jose” Sagisi Alcaraz, 74, of Hanama‘ulu, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Aug. 28, 2023. He was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on July 4, 1949, and retired from Lihu‘e Sugar Plantation as an irrigator.

He was preceded in death by parents Genaro and Dominga Alcaraz and sister Felicidad Gamiao.

Joe is survived by wife Connie Alcaraz, son Joseph (Jackie Lou) Alcaraz, daughters Janelyn (Hermoso Jr.) Parallag, Cheryl (Michael) Parallag, grandchildren Sharmayne Joy Alcaraz, Janessa Haydee Parallag, Hayven Gabe Parallag, Xian Angelo Alcaraz, Chretzen Mikael Parallag, Amarah Joyce Alcaraz, Grant Daesen Parallag, Meillary Blezz Parallag, sisters Lolita (Jaime Sr.-dec.) Tagudan of the Philippines, Monica (Bonifacio Sr.-dec) Guerrero of the Philippines, Susan (Melvin) Braceros of Kaua‘i, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life is Saturday, Oct. 14, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing at 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Philip Cadawas

Philip Cadawas, 83 years old, passed away peacefully on Aug. 27, 2023, in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Philip was born on Oct. 23, 1939 in Lihu‘e, Hawai‘i. He graduated from Kaua‘i High School, Class of 1957. Philip pursued a career in automotive mechanics and was the owner of Philip’s Gas Station & Auto Repair Service in Kapaia. He retired from TransHawaiian Tours as a Maintenance Supervisor. Philip was an avid fisherman and was known for his great catches on his infamous fishing boat, the “Marian C.!”

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marian Cadawas of Hanamaulu; five daughters, Noreen (Eustaquio) Padilla of Las Vegas, Debra (Goudie) Morden of Puhi, Yvette Cadawas of Hanamaulu, Janelle (Daniel) Bardell of Indianapolis and Lori Cadawas of Honolulu; his grandchildren Paige Padilla, Cody Morden, Christian Cadawas-Tanicala, Michael Ladera Jr., Kwynton Bardell, Cierra Tanicala, Emily Morden, Hailey Gabina; Kailynn Bardell, and a great-grandson, Luca Morden.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Darlene Cadawas; his parents, Filemon and Matsuko Cadawas; brothers Benjamin Cadauas, Stanley Cadawas, sister Aurelia “Nina” Perlas and in-laws, Bilarmino and Josephine Mande.

Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Mortuary in Koloa and services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the mortuary. If you have any questions, please call Janelle Bardell at (317) 775-0620.

Frederick David Dugay Constantino

Frederick David Dugay Constantino, 53, of Kilauea, passed away on Sept. 2, 2023, at Straub Medical Hospital. He was born on June 8, 1970, at Wilcox Medical Center. He was a housing specialist in Kaua‘i at Catholic Charities Hawai‘i.

He was preceded in death by father Francisco Subia Constantino and uncle Felix Subia Constantino.

He is survived by mother Ardelina Ramil Dugay Constantino, uncle William Ovalles, aunt Bernarda Dugay Constantino, brothers John Charles Dugay Constantino, Christopher Nino (Nichelle) Dugay Constantino, nephew Gabriel Constantino, niece Eliana Constantino, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and godchildren.

Family and Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Oct. 13, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa starting at 2 p.m.

A service is Saturday, Oct. 14, at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Kilauea. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Kapaa. The family requests aloha attire and welcomes flowers.
