Duanne Lynn Healani Kubo

Duanne Lynn Healani Kubo, of Wailua Homesteads, passed on Sept. 25, 2019. She was born on Dec. 3, 1960. She was retired.

She is preceded in death by her mother Violet Yong Dok Kubo; father Leslie Levi Sueo Kubo; brother Sanford “Sanny” Wesley Kubo.

She is survived by her daughter Donna Lee “Lezlee” Kainani Kubo (Tommy Kim Castillejos); son Duston Ray Kainalu Kubo (Asha Peahu); sisters, Donna Lee Momilani Lloyd (Gary), Leslie Takasaki (Francis); brother Derwin Leslie Kubo (Jane); grandchildren, Kulani Peahu, Kaiden Ray Kubo, Kyara-Lee Castillejos, Levin Lee Castillejos; nieces and nephews, Kelsi Kubo (Jimmy), Kylie Kubo Labeau (Mark), Jerrilee Bukoski Largusa (Paka), Chevas Takasaki (Mikki), Cody Takasaki (Ehlen), Tia Takasaki (Brenden), Taeani Largusa, Taeden Largusa, Monika Crain Lee, Ella Takasaki; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at Kapaa Ward I, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church), Kapaa, on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, with visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and services from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Refreshments and pupus will be served following the service in the Church Cultural Hall. Burial will be private

Oahu Cemetery and Crematory, Honolulu, assisted the family with arrangements.

Susan Lanette Uchida

Susan Lanette Uchida, 76, of Lihue, passed away on May 14, 2019, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born in Modesto, California on Oct. 23, 1942, and retired as a professor and Business Education Division Chair with the University of Hawaii, Kauai Community College after 34 years. In 2008, the U.H Board of Regents awarded her the distinction of Emeritus Professor.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Betty Hoatson.

Susan is survived by her husband Alvin Uchida; brother Mark (Phyllis) Hoatson; sister Jennifer Hoatson both of California and one nephew Jeffery Hoatson.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at Lihue Christian Church Social Hall. Visitation with the family will be held at 11:30 a.m. with an informational luncheon and remembrance at noon.

Kauai Memorial Garden Assisted the family with arrangements.

Jane Natsuyo Rabot

Jane Natsuyo Rabot passed away at Straub Hospital on Oct. 13, 2019, at the age of 88. She was born on June 3, 1931, in Kapaa. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her son Edward (Daisy) Rabot of Hanamaulu; daughters, Celestine Bacio of Kapahi, Dawn Rabot of Kapahi, Charmaine (James) Penney of Fremont, Calif.; grandchildren, Paul Bacio Jr., James Bacio, Christopher Bacio, Shawn Bacio, Jarret Berlarmino, Remus Felipe, Eric Rabot, Jordan Rabot, Bryson Corpuz; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Nonaka of Hanapepe, Afton Camat of Wailua Houselots, Gladys Iha of Kapaa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held on Nov. 2, 2019, at Aloha Assembly of God in Lihue (across from Burger King) with visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and service at 10:30 a.m. Burial at Kapaa Public Cemetery. Family suggests casual attire. Flowers welcome.

Dwayne Linn ‘Manny’ Fernandez

Dwayne Linn “Manny” Fernandez, age 67, of Kekaha, passed away on Oct. 5, 2019. Dwayne was born Sept. 11, 1952, in Honolulu, to Andres and Winona. He began his career at PMRF Barking Sands Naval Base with Crash Fire Rescue as a firefighter.

Dwayne is survived by his wife Kim (Ryan); 2 daughters, Ryann Mailani (Aaron), Paige Keana; his 2 grandchildren, Tyson Vaika, 8 (Mailani), Khloe Amaya, 3 (Paige); his mother Winona (Robert); siblings, sister Gigi (Charlie) sister Stacey (Steven); nephew Kiv (Rivera), niece Kira (Rivera), nephew Chase (Bohn), niece Kaylee (Fernandez), niece La’akela (Fernandez); uncle Pelane (Fernandez); countless family members of the Fernandez Clan, an immeasurable amount of friends, softball teammates, and many more.

Dwayne was preceded in passing by his father Andy; sister Maynette; brother Kiley.

Please join us in honoring and celebrating Dwayne’s remarkable life on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at St. Raphael Church, 3011 Hapa Rd, in Koloa. Visitation will be from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m., with Mass at 10 a.m. and Ohana style lunch to follow.

The family graciously requests casual or Aloha attire and no flowers please, however, fresh leis are welcome.

Kaisa Kahanuolamaikahikina Hesapene Uehara Gramberg

Kaisa Kahanuolamaikahikina Hesapene Uehara Gramberg passed away at home on Oct. 19, 2019, at the age of 47 days. She was born on Sept. 2, 2019, in Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother Caroline Hoopii; great-grandfather Magua Hesapene; grand uncles, Dean and Kenneth Hesapene.

She is survived by her loving parents, Nawaimakaonamauna Gramberg of Waimanalo, Kacie’lin Hesapene of Hanapepe; great-great-grandmother Marion Gramberg of Waimanalo; great-great-grandfather George Gramberg of Molokai; grandparents Chuck and Tammy-Jean Uehara of Haiku, Maui; aunties, Shalysse (Chuck) Kidd of Haiku, Maui and Sammy Wada of Hawaii Kai; uncles , Jarvis Iokepa of Waimanalo, Iakona (Miranda) Iokepa of San Diego, Naholowa’a Gramberg of Oahu, Kaimana Uehara of Haiku, Maui; cousins, Sayde and Chayden Iokepa of San Diego; great-grandfather Alberto “Sonny” Hoopii of Kekaha; great-grandmother Corazon Hesapene of Kekaha; grandparents David and Camille Hesapene of Hanapepe; uncles, Kelsey (Emilie Bierly) Hesapene of Kekaha, David Jr “Junah” (Hollianne Nakaahiki) Hesapene of Pakala; cousins Teiva, Talen, Ekolu Hesapene and Hailey Niau; numerous aunties, uncles, cousins and friends and of course “Toots Ohana”

Stanley Sekiichi Sekimoto

April 23, 1941 Oct. 21, 2019

On the night of Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, Stanley Sekiichi Sekimoto passed away peacefully after a bout with cancer at the age of 78. Stan, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was the son of Harry Sekizo Sekimoto and Irene Kiyoko Sekimoto Pillon of Waikapu, Maui, Hawaii.

Stan was a 1959 graduate of Baldwin High School. He attended the University of Hawaii where he was involved in the the United States Air Force ROTC program. Stan went on to serve 20 years in the Air Force and retired as a Major. As a pilot flying the worlds largest aircraft, the C5 cargo plane, Stan flew missions in the Vietnam War and all over the world including Saudi Arabia, Argentina, England and Hawaii. After his Air Force career, Stan returned to his beloved Hawaii where he worked as the Director of Conventional Aviation overseeing the small non-commercial airplanes and airports for the state. He was later promoted to be the Airport Manager at Lihue.

Stan is survived by his wife Valerie Texeira Sekimoto of Kauai; two step-daughters, Teresa Pia and Rayna Pia; hanai daughter Lara Crawford; eight grandchildren; brothers, Rodney M. Sekimoto (Carole) of Chula Vista, California, Harvey T. Sekimoto (Darla) of San Antonio, Texas; niece Allison Smith (Graham); nephews, Leigh Sekimoto (Lena), Steven Sekimoto (Trilla), Ryan Sekimoto (Ashley), and Christopher Sekimoto (Clarissa).

Private services have been held. The family requests no koden or flowers.

Bruce W. Victorino

Bruce W. Victorino, 70, of Kapaa, passed away at home on Oct. 26, 2019. He was born in Lihue, on Jan. 17, 1949, and retired as a cook.

He is preceded in death by his father Robert P. Victorino.

Bruce is survived by his mother Alice Victorino (Maeno); sisters, Joyce A. Hada, Sharleen (Peter) Soule; niece Bonnie Soule; nephews, Jeremy Soule, Derick Hada, Dana Hada; and Coco.

Private Services will be held.

Leilani Virginia Doyle

Leilani Virginia Doyle, 78, of Morocco, Indiana, passed away on July 9, 2019, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois. She was born on March 16, 1941, in Lihue. Leilani retired from Permonite/Intech Corporation, after working 37 years as a lead machine operator.

Leilani was preceded in death by her parents Filomeno John Sr. and Virginia (Barba) Tangalin.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Doyle Sr.; children, Donald (Linda) Doyle Jr., Christopher (Susan) Doyle, Bernard (Debbie S) Doyle; brothers, John (Bernadette) Tangalin Jr., Leroy L. Tangalin, Thomas D. Tangalin, Casey Tangalin, James (Amie) Tangalin, John (Nancy) Pauole; sisters, Veronica (Norman) Sakaguchi, Shanti (David) Reinhardt Kanter; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held in Kentland, Indian.

Robert Lawrence Bentley

Robert Lawrence Bentley, 67, of Lihue, fell asleep in death on Oct. 5, 2019, at Cebu North General Hospital in the Philippines. He was born on Oct. 13, 1951, in Wakefield, Rhode Island. He was a retired General Contractor of Us Guys Builders and BZ Building.

He is survived by his daughter Christina (Donivan) Konno of Lihue; son Brian J. Bentley of Kapaa; 2 sisters, Bonnie (Linda) Bentley and Elizabeth Bentley, both of Grand Terrace, Calif,; grandsons, Ethan, Makoa and Landon Konno; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Howard Osborne Bentley in Dec. 1990 and Beverly Elsie Bentley in July 2010.

Memorial Services on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa, 10 a.m. visitation and service at 11 a.m. Family request casual attire and please omit flowers.
