Aurelio ‘Al’ Ramelb

Aurelio “Al” Ramelb, 79, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Aug. 30, 2021. He was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Nov. 12, 1941. He was a finance clerk staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, retired from Sheraton Kauai Resort and was an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by parents Rosendo Fernandez and Isabella Madrid Ramelb, and brother Federico Ramelb.

He is survived by son Joshua (Sylvia) Jones of Las Vegas, brother Patricio (Dorrine) Ramelb, sisters Felicidad (Anthony, deceased) Divina and Angelita (Irvin) Green, and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.

A celebration of life is Thursday Sept. 23, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are required.

Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bennett John Duarte

Bennett John Duarte, 61, passed away on Sept. 8, 2021.

He was preceded in death by parents Edward and Laura (Gomes) Duarte, brother Howard Duarte, and sisters Phyllis (Duarte) Fiorucci and Arlene (Duarte) Heiser.

He is survived by wife Katherine Pupu Kanahele, sons Bennett J. “Ioane” Kanahele-Duarte and David K. Kanahele Duarte of Kekaha, brothers Dennis (Chantal) Duarte of Kekaha, Thomas (Barbie) Duarte of Waimea and Alan (Liza) Duarte of Wailua, and sisters Gladys Louise Taylor of Las Vegas and Betty (Michael) Pesce of San Rafael, California.

A funeral Mass is Saturday, Sept. 25, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Church in Waimea at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Edwin D. Conselva, M.S., presiding. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation. Inurnment will follow at a later date.

Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
