LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i residents are invited to apply for a new, free hybrid (mix of online and in-person) program this fall for nurse aide training preparing students for the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credential leading to in-demand jobs at local long-term care facilities.
“There is an urgent need for CNAs on Kaua‘i and this training provides the skills and applied learning to prepare students for immediate employment opportunities with local employers” said Cheryl Lum, Lead Training Coordinator at Kaua‘i Community College.
Tuition sponsorships for employed, unemployed and underemployed Hawai‘i residents will be sponsored by Hana Career Pathways, a statewide program through the University of Hawai’i Community Colleges offering short-term trainings that lead to industry credentials. Funding includes covering full tuition, books and the exam fee costs for the Certified Nurse Aide credential.
The training program will be offered from Oct. 12 – Jan. 13, 2023, with Wednesday online lectures, 4 to 7 p.m., and Friday labs in person on-campus, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
