Slippers for Back to School

LIHUE — Slippahs are not on the list of items needed for students returning to school, but slippahs bust in the rigors of school life.

Pastor John and Rhonda Cabello and the New Hope Lihue church will be providing free slippers to attendees of its “Back to School Bash” from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kauai Veterans Center.

“It’s one of the last parties before school starts,” Pastor John said. “Our kids work so hard each school year, and we want them to come and have a blast to start the school year right. On top of the food and fun, we want to provide them with free slippers. Parents already have a long supply list to shop for, so we want to help.”

The area surrounding the Kauai Veterans Center will be set up with waterslides, a zipline, and food.

“Our goal is to give, give, give,”said Jenyffer Vieira, a member of New Hope.

Pastor John Cabello said donations of school materials, especially new slippers in different sizes, are welcome.
